The Digital Content Specialist designs, manages and implements digital marketing tactics that advance the audience engagement, growth and revenue goals of The Nature Conservancy in New York. They will be part of a marketing and communications team in New York and work closely and collaboratively with digital experts and others across our global organization to maximize opportunities. The Specialist will play a vital role in contributing to compelling, research-driven storytelling and content strategies that drive fundraising leads, strengthen donor engagement and retention, and enhance public affinity for The Nature Conservancy (TNC).
We’re Looking For You
The Digital Content Specialist advances The Nature Conservancy’s conservation goals by delivering key messages to targeted audiences across digital channels. They implement, manage, and measure content and campaigns across social media, email, and web platforms that:
- Align with organizational priorities and values
- Reflect our brand voice and tone
- Establish TNC as a trusted expert on key conservation issues
Working closely with the New York marketing and communications team, marketing colleagues across North America, and key stakeholders throughout the NY Division, the Digital Content Specialist manages and implements audience-first content that reinforces our brand and elevates our thought leadership. They implement digital tactics through creative design, photography, videography, and copywriting to build awareness, deepen engagement, influence conservation action, and motivate donations to The Nature Conservancy.
A significant portion of this role involves writing—crafting digital-first feature stories, video scripts, e-newsletter content, and donor communications that educate and inspire. The Specialist frequently captures photo and video content in the field and at events, producing timely, high-quality materials.
They also support New York leadership visibility by developing and posting content on behalf of executives and incorporating platform-specific best practices (e.g., LinkedIn). Managing online communities, engaging with followers, and influencing relevant conversations are aspects of this work.
The Specialist uses analytics tools to track performance, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations to optimize content and campaigns. They manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and communicate TNC’s mission and values effectively.
Responsibilities & Scope
- Create engaging written and visual content—including copy, graphics, videos, GIFs, and curated photography—for both quick-turnaround projects and larger campaigns.
- Develop and manage multimedia story packages and content for TNC New York’s website, social media channels, email campaigns, and newsletters, aligned with the team’s editorial calendar.
- Produce compelling monthly and quarterly newsletters that drive audience engagement.
- Translate complex conservation topics into clear, engaging content tailored to target audiences.
- Apply editing skills and digital best practices to optimize content for social and digital platforms while maintaining brand consistency.
- Use analytics to evaluate user experience across digital channels and touchpoints and make data-informed recommendations.
- Assist with video ideation, scripting, recording and editing, and coordinate outsourcing when needed.
- Help maintain the editorial calendar and project management systems to track progress, analyze results, and support team collaboration.
- Recommend creative, technical, and channel-specific strategies to improve audience reach and advance conservation goals.
- Create and distribute social media content for various TNC voices, including internal teams and key executives; support live content creation during events, field visits, and milestone moments.
- Travel occasionally to capture video, audio, and photo content in the field and at key events, including outdoor shoots and in-person retreats.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships.
- Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
- Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience conceiving stories that creatively and convincingly reach various audiences.
- Experience developing social-first and people-first content and multimedia content packages

- Experience in multi-channel digital and social media work, including the development and execution of audience journeys.
- Experience in CMS, SEO, SEM and Google Analytics/web traffic metrics.
- A creative background with experience in digital design and creating social media videos.
- Experience using photo and video editing software and design products such as Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, or Adobe Premier Pro. and email services such as Mail Chimp.
- Experience writing short and long-form content
- Solid knowledge of best practices across digital and social media platforms for reaching consumer or donor audiences.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing digital campaigns.
- Strong communications skill with the ability to work efficiently and effectively within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Experience managing a budget, including external agencies and freelancers.
- Experience using data analytics to inform decisions and strategies.
- Experience leading in a team-based environment with internal and/or external partners.
- Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
- Multi-cultural experience preferred.
- Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in marketing.
- Ability to work independently without requiring detailed management review of general work
- Strong time management skills: ability to design, implement and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, on tight deadlines.
- Ability to experiment and think outside the box and cultivate the creative ideas of others to find innovative solutions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and project management experience.
Salary Information
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of
$68,000 – $90,780 . This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
