COMMUNICATION CONTENT SPECIALIST

Position Description
The Communication Team supports Whitesburg Baptist in engaging our growing church family with crucial information and reaching our growing city with the gospel. We’re looking for a self-driven, team player with excellent writing skills. Working under the supervision of the Senior Associate Pastor and as part of the Communications Team, the Communication Content Specialist will assist with writing and editing website, newsletter, and other written content, updating the website, and other team tasks. This is a full-time (37.5 hours), on-campus role. Ideal start date in April 2026.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities*
- Write and edit content submissions for the Weekly Update, the church’s newsletter.
- Assist with proofing and editing for booklets, postcards, and other print pieces.
- Assist with monitoring communication platforms for consistent information and messaging.
- Serve as the primary contact for all aspects of Whitesburg Baptist’s website and app.
- Update website and app to maintain current content.
- Monitor website and app for needed content updates or issues.
- Identify opportunities for improvements to SEO, website speed, user experience, and visual appeal.
- Report any website/app outages or technical issues promptly for repair.
- Participate in weekly Communication Team meetings.
- Communicate with teammates and other staff members to determine newsletter, app, and website needs for various ministries and events.
- Build new webpages and app pages periodically.
- Collaborate with graphic designer to develop website graphics.
- Collect and analyze website and app data to share with Senior Pastor, Senior Associate Pastor, and Communication Team.
- In the event of website and/or app rebuild, serve as the primary point of contact for the web designer.
- Remain current on best practices for websites, SEO, and relevant website/app topics.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong writing skills, including spelling, word usage, punctuation, grammar, clarity, and conciseness.
- Website experience and ability to learn our website and app management platforms.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe InDesign
- Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics
- Preferred degree in communication field or marketing.
