Position Overview
Leading intellectual property law firm with a global client base is seeking an experienced Legal Content Writer to join its Marketing and Business Development team. This role is responsible for crafting clear, compelling, and consumer focused legal content that supports the firm’s business development efforts, including legal directories, monthly newsletters, RFP responses, awards submissions, and other client facing materials.
The Legal Content Writer translates strategic direction into polished deliverables that are brand aligned, compliant, and optimized for end user adoption. Working within established frameworks, this role collaborates closely with attorneys, senior leadership, and marketing colleagues to execute content calendars, proposal strategies, and business development initiatives. This position is heavily focused on directory submissions, RFPs, awards, and related pursuits, while also supporting broader marketing projects as workload permits.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Content and Newsletter Writing
- Craft and optimize consumer focused articles for the firm’s monthly newsletter
- Translate complex statutory and regulatory frameworks into clear, standardized guidance materials
- Verify all content against public, authoritative legal and government sources
RFP and Proposal Development
- Write and manage Request for Proposal responses from inception through submission, with guidance from senior leadership
- Collaborate with attorneys and business development colleagues to develop tailored, persuasive proposal strategies
- Respond to a steady volume of edits with precision and timeliness
- Coordinate proofreading, finalization, and on time submission of proposals
- Manage an active proposal calendar to ensure no opportunities are missed
- Prepare post RFP materials to support attorney client interviews
- Create RFP and proposal reports, identifying inefficiencies and recommend improvements
Awards and Business Development Support
- Research, draft, and manage submissions for legal directories and industry awards, including Chambers, Legal 500, IP Stars, and other relevant rankings and accolades
- Collaborate closely with attorneys to prepare for and support research interviews, including background materials and talking points
- Manage and maintain client referee lists, ensuring accuracy, readiness, and strong alignment with each submission strategy
- Demonstrate a proven ability to improve law firm and individual attorney rankings through strategic positioning and compelling written submissions
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar of awards, directories, and submission deadlines to ensure timely and coordinated execution
- Maintain and continuously refine proposal templates, content libraries, and internal tracking tools
- Track, analyze, and report proposal and award win and loss data to support ongoing strategy and performance improvements
Editing, Proofreading, and Marketing Support
- Assist attorneys with proofreading and editing documents, including marketing materials, proposals, presentations, pitches, articles, and thought leadership content
- Edit and refine PowerPoint presentations as needed to ensure clarity, consistency, and visual polish
- Support additional marketing related initiatives and content needs as required
- Demonstrate ongoing curiosity about the firm’s practice areas, client base, and competitive landscape
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Proven experience leading legal directory submissions, including Chambers, Legal 500, IP Stars, or similar publications
- Prior experience drafting RFP responses and other business development materials within a law firm, investment firm, asset management firm, or comparable setting
- Demonstrated success managing end-to-end directory submission processes and contributing to improved firm and individual attorney rankings
Salary:
The starting salary for this position is $90,000 per year. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and overall qualifications.
