The County of Volusia is seeking a Senior Marketing Specialist (Working Title: Senior Venue Marketing Specialist) for the Ocean Center. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida, and will be responsible for maintaining brand identity and will oversee a wide range of communication, marketing, and public relations functions that support Volusia County’s Ocean Center and other entertainment venues. The Senior Marketing Specialist is under direct supervision from the Ocean Center Director in coordinating various communication, marketing, and public relations tasks and initiatives across multiple departments and stakeholders.

- Event marketing support; collaborate with promoters, artists, publicists, and tour representatives to execute impactful marketing and Public Relations (PR) campaigns.
- Serve as the onsite Public Relations (PR) contact for events, coordinating with tour teams, securing media credentials, managing media tickets, and escorting photographers during shows.
- Develop, write, and edit high-quality content for annual reports, technical packets, sales kits, and promotional materials.
- Ensure consistent branding across all collateral, stationery, advertising, and public-facing materials.
- Manage the Ocean Center’s social media accounts; develop and implement creative social media strategies that reflect the organization’s unique tone and voice.
- Manage website copy and content, ensuring timely updates and consistency with marketing goals.
- Attend events on nights and weekends to capture and distribute social media content including photos, video, and messaging.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and industry media.
- Identify media opportunities such as award submissions, feature stories, and promotional campaigns.
- Build and manage influencer programs, ensuring alignment with brand values.
- Coordinate advertising buys and placements to maximize exposure and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Coordinate sponsorship agreements, ensuring deliverables align with organizational goals and brand standards.
- Act as the Public Relations (PR) contact, managing communications for events at the venues.
- Oversee and execute crisis communication strategies, maintaining updated protocols for stakeholders.
- Develop and distribute media materials such as press releases, media alerts, and press conference details.
- Create promotional plans to attract new events and shows to the venues.
- Partner with internal and external teams to generate innovative ideas for earned media coverage.
- Execute cross-promotional opportunities tied to sponsorships and partnerships.
- Use media databases, track coverage, and create detailed analytics reports to assess campaign effectiveness.
- Facilitate the Ocean Center’s digital newsletter and other email campaigns, including creating content, editing, and distribution.
- Support community and corporate events.
- Develop and execute backstage activations, performer gifting programs, and client promotional items.
- Manage digital messaging on the marquee.
- May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate
and seven (7) years of experience in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related field and increasingly responsible experience in sales and/or marketing working in a convention center, hotel, sports facility, or other multi-purpose public assembly facility.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related field
and three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in sales and/or marketing working in a convention center, hotel, sports facility, or other multi-purpose public assembly facility.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire.
Must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
