We’re looking for a Digital Engagement Specialist who is creative, curious, and community-minded to help amplify ACSM’s voice across digital platforms and connect our science, programs, and people with audiences around the globe.

This position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana with the opportunity to work from home from any location within Indiana and driving distance from the Indianapolis area. Paid relocation is not offered.
This salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000. Only those candidates who exceed the education and experience requirements will be eligible for the top of the salary range.
What You’ll Do
Bring ACSM to Life on Social Media
- Execute day-to-day social media activity across platforms including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging channels
- Draft, schedule, publish, and monitor content that reflects ACSM’s trusted brand voice
- Engage with our community by monitoring comments, messages, and mentions, escalating issues when needed
- Stay ahead of trends, platform updates, and best practices
- Support ACSM Journal Digital Editors to ensure consistency with ACSM standards and branding
Create & Share Compelling Content
- Develop and curate engaging written and visual content, including short-form video, graphics, and multimedia assets
- Coordinate with internal subject matter experts and external contributors to source high-quality content
- Curate and support newsletter content aligned with audience needs and ACSM’s strategic priorities
- Assist with content distribution across social, email, and other digital channels
Support Digital Marketing Campaigns
- Assist with digital campaigns promoting ACSM programs, events, products, and services
- Support email marketing initiatives, including newsletters and campaign-based communications
- Contribute to paid social and digital advertising efforts through content preparation and performance monitoring
Use Data to Drive Impact
- Monitor social and digital performance using analytics tools
- Compile metrics and insights to support reporting and optimization
- Apply data-driven insights to refine content and engagement strategies
Collaborate & Connect
- Partner with internal teams to support digital engagement and content needs
- Serve as a staff liaison to committees, partners, and initiatives as assigned
- Share best practices and provide tactical guidance on effective digital engagement
What You Bring
Knowledge
- Hands-on experience supporting organizational social media efforts
- Understanding of digital and content marketing principles, including SEO and SEM
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders while meeting deadlines and brand standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Familiarity with exercise science, health promotion, or sports medicine (preferred)
- Understanding of nonprofit and association environments
Skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills for social and digital platforms
- Creative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
- Collaborative mindset with high ethical standards and commitment to ACSM’s mission
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field preferred
- 2–4 years of professional experience in social media, digital marketing, or related roles
- Experience with associations, nonprofits, or science-based organizations is a plus

- Attendance at ACSM meetings as required
- Adherence to attendance, scheduling, and dress code policies
- Flexibility to support evolving staffing needs and additional duties as assigned
