Social Media and Marketing Internship Description
Hourly Pay: $18 - $20
Weekly Hours: 21 – 40
Shifts: 10:30am – 5:30pm
Days: Wednesday – Sunday
Internship Duration: 4-6 Months

Social Media and Marketing Intern Overview:
The Social Media & Marketing Associate develops and implements a
compelling communications and marketing strategy that promotes awareness of
the Museum's exhibitions and programs to a variety of audiences, increasing
attendance and engagement. Working within a small team, this position is
responsible for both high level strategy and day-to-day implementation of the
Museum’s paid marketing, media relations, social media and web sites, printed
collateral and branded materials, and digital promotions.
Responsibilities:
● Lead communications and marketing efforts to foster broad participation
in the Museum’s programs from the region’s diverse communities
● Develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans, budgets, and timelines
for marketing and communications
● Plan and implement campaigns to drive awareness of and attendance for
Museum’s exhibitions, education programs, and public events
● Manage all media relations, including: building and maintaining
relationships with local and regional media; writing and distributing press
releases, media advisories, talking points, and fact sheets; creating media
kits and media assets for earned coverage; pitching and coordinating
media coverage; and serving as a spokesperson as needed
● Create content, establish calendars, and manage Museum social media
profiles
● Write and distribute e-newsletter; maintain email list databases and issue
email marketing to promote exhibit and education programs.
● Support development and membership initiatives through creating and
executing targeted campaigns and materials
● Work closely with the department heads to develop promotions for the
broad scope of Museum activities
● Ensure the Museum website and external listings are consistently up to
date
● Oversee implementation of Museum messaging, brand, and graphic
identity, ensuring consistency in all materials
● Conduct regular data-driven assessments of marketing efforts to
determine their effectiveness and to ensure maximum value of
expenditures

● Understanding of diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion
● Experience with Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Later.com preferred
