Our association client is looking for a Senior Writer to join their editorial team. This position is on-site 5 days a week in Alexandria, VA.
The Senior Writer is a core member of the media team, responsible for producing original high-impact editorial content for the magazine, daily newsletter and website. This role focuses on thought leadership, long-form journalism, and deep industry storytelling within the convenience and fuel retailing industry. The ideal candidate has worked in business media - specifically in retail, QSR, restaurant.
Senior Writer Responsibilities:
-Independently conceive, research, report, and write long-form editorial content
-Maintain strong industry relationships, especially with convenience retailers
-Generate content that advances the strategic communications and thought leadership
-Produce content across multiple formats including: Print magazine features, daily e-newsletter stories, web articles and blogs -Collaborate cross-functionally with editors and internal stakeholders
-Manage multiple editorial projects simultaneously from idea to publication
Senior Writer Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree (Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred)
-5+ years of professional writing and editorial experience
-Strong background in: Content writing & editing, research and analysis, strategic communications
-Ability to translate complex industry topics into compelling narratives
-Experience working across digital and print platforms
-Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to work independently -Familiarity with social media and performance metrics is a plus
In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
