The Program Translation Team (PTT) is located within the Program Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB), in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention (DNPAO). TARDIS is responsible for conducting translation and training activities for DNPAO’s State Nutrition and Physical Activity (SPAN) program, High Obesity Program (HOP), Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program, and Tribal programs. The PTT team provides important translation work to recipients, including the provision of success stories review and feedback, development and coordination of program success snapshots, and the creation of writing workshops that enhance the skills of recipients’ successes.The PTT manages DNPAO’s weekly flagship newsletter, the DNPAO Program Digest. Additionally, PTT provides strategic assistance in evaluating current internal technical assistance practices, supports the development of resources for recipients to help in their programmatic work, and manages event planning for internal staff and recipients PTT members also participate in division strategy workgroups, providing writing and tool development assistance when needed.
McKing seeks a full-time writer/editor to supplement the PTT by providing professional writing and editing services, in addition to supporting monthly planning and implementation of trainings.
Task Examples Include
- Provide translation technical assistance to PDEB recipients and staff
- Review and provide feedback on annual success stories (two per recipient)
- Assist in the planning and implementation of recipient trainings (virtual and/or in person)
- Develop a minimum of one translation product and/or tool
- Develop a minimum of one manuscript for publication.
- Review and provide technical assistance to recipients in manuscript development of manuscripts for publication Monthly documentation of technical assistance using the CDC AMP system that captures grantee interactions and communications
Qualifications And Education Requirements
Bachelor’s/5 years’ experience
High School/9 years
