The Data & Analytics Specialist owns IMI’s data and reporting layer, ensuring leadership has accurate, timely, and actionable insights to drive operational and strategic decisions.
This is a hands-on role responsible for building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and data
models, developing and managing data pipelines and automations, and ensuring reporting is
trustworthy and consistent across the business. The role combines technical execution (data
modeling, transformation, and automation) with business partnership (defining KPIs, validating
outputs, and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities).
This role works cross-functionally with operations, quality, sales, and leadership, interfaces
regularly with stakeholders at multiple levels to align on data definitions and priorities and
operates in a fast-paced environment with evolving systems and processes, requiring adaptability
and structured problem-solving.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working across multiple source systems (e.g., ERP, QMS,
CRM), understands how data connects across them, and can diagnose issues quickly when
inconsistencies arise. This individual will play a key role in establishing a single source of truth
and improving how data is used across IMI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Data & Reporting Ownership (Primary Focus)
• Build, publish, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models
• Own data modeling and transformation (Power Query, relationships, keys, KPI logic) to ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, and explainable.
• Manage dataset refresh schedules, workspace organization, and access governance
• Identify and resolve data integrity issues across systems (e.g., join failures, schema changes, inconsistent definitions)
• Maintain clear documentation of data models, definitions, and transformations
Data Pipelines & Automation
• Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines using Python (scripts, notebooks,
executables) and task scheduling tools
• Convert manual workflows (reports, reconciliations, tracker updates) into reliable, repeatable processes
• Monitor data refreshes and automation jobs; troubleshoot failures related to schema drift, file dependencies, and credentials
• Maintain runbooks and standard operating procedures to ensure stability and continuity
• Continuously improve scalability by reducing dependency on manual inputs and file-based processes
KPI Definition & Decision Support
• Partner with business leaders to translate questions into measurable KPIs and reporting
tools
• Validate outputs with stakeholders to ensure metrics align with operational reality
• Own KPI definitions and data logic in partnership with functional leaders to maintain a single source of truth
• Provide ongoing analysis to highlight trends, risks, and performance improvement opportunities
• Support leadership with recurring and ad hoc analysis as needed
Data Enablement & Adoption (Secondary Priority)
• Support adoption of data tools through clear documentation, training, and communication
• Enable teams to interpret and use data correctly and consistently
• Contribute to internal data communication efforts (e.g., updates, summaries, internal newsletter) to reinforce a data-driven culture
• Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• 3 - 6+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or similar role
• Strong experience with Power BI (dashboard development, data modeling, DAX
preferred)
• Experience with data transformation tools (Power Query or equivalent)
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation
• Experience working with relational data and understanding of data modeling concepts (keys, joins, schemas)
• Ability to work with data across multiple systems (ERP, CRM, or operational systems)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to data accuracy and detail
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with SQL and direct database querying
• Experience working in manufacturing, medical device, or regulated environments
• Familiarity with systems such as ERP, QMS, or CRM platforms
• Experience building or maintaining automated reporting or ETL pipelines
• Experience supporting KPI standardization or data governance initiatives
Success in This Role:
Success will be measured by the reliability, usability, and impact of IMI’s data environment:
• Reporting is trusted and consistently used with minimal manual reconciliation
• Core KPIs are clearly defined, standardized, and aligned across departments
• Manual reporting processes are significantly reduced or eliminated through automation
• Data pipelines and dashboards are stable, maintainable, and well-documented
• Leadership is able to make faster, more informed decisions based on available data
