Strategic Purpose of Position
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for proactive client outreach, lead generation, and supporting the catering sales team in securing new business. This role focuses on engaging corporate and nonprofit event clients through cold outreach and strategic prospecting while providing administrative and operational support to the sales and service teams as needed.
Qualifications of Position
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in sales, telemarketing, hospitality, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and build rapport quickly.
- Experience in cold outreach and lead generation is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems (Salesforce or similar preferred).
- Knowledge of catering, events, or hospitality industry is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of self-motivation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Essential Job Functions
Client Outreach & Lead Generation
- Conduct daily outbound outreach to potential clients across corporate and nonprofit event sectors.
- Research and identify new business opportunities through industry networking and digital outreach.
- Qualify leads based on event requirements, budget, and venue capacity before passing them to the Property Sales Manager.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions in the CRM system.
- Respond to inbound inquiries, providing initial information about catering services and event spaces.
- Collaborate with sales managers to identify prospective targets, set up meetings, and schedule venue tours
- Participate in weekly sales meetings to discuss lead performance and outreach strategies.
- Develop and implement strategy around the NYC events landscape and calendar to inform outreach and increase event bookings
- Monitor competitor venues, market trends, and industry developments to inform business growth strategies and maintain competitive positioning.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients and stakeholders
- Utilize Salesforce to create reports on prior years’ inquiries and bookings to re-engage previous leads
Marketing & Business Development Support
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop newsletter campaigns, LinkedIn posts, and marketing plans for outbound campaigns.
- Assist with gathering client testimonials, case studies, and feedback for marketing purposes.
- Help update and maintain marketing materials used for client outreach and presentations.
- Monitor social media and online platforms for potential business leads.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent the company professionally in all client interactions.
- Support marketing initiatives by gathering feedback from potential clients.
- Assist with follow-up communications after sales meetings or client inquiries.
- Provide insights on potential improvements in outreach strategy and client engagement.
- Must be comfortable making high-volume outbound calls daily.
- Willing to work flexible hours depending on business needs.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Ability to handle rejection and maintain a positive attitude.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
