The Marketing Copywriter is responsible for developing clear, compelling, and brand-aligned copy across all Interlochen marketing channels. This role translates Interlochen’s mission and programs into engaging content that drives awareness, enrollment, and audience engagement. The Copywriter collaborates closely with marketing, design, and other teams, supporting multiple business units and managing a diverse portfolio of projects simultaneously. This role focuses on high-impact marketing copy, including SEO-driven articles and website copy, headlines, email campaigns, brochures, and conversion-focused digital content. Success in this role is defined by the ability to produce clear, effective copy that supports institutional goals, strengthens brand consistency, and performs across channels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Write and edit high-quality, persuasive copy for a wide range of marketing materials, including digital and print ads, email campaigns, brochures, website content, and SEO-driven articles
- Ensure all content aligns with Interlochen’s established voice, tone, and messaging frameworks
- Translate complex or nuanced program information into clear, engaging, and audience-focused messaging
- Collaborate with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to develop integrated, multi-channel campaigns
- Maintain and manage content inventories and messaging matrices
- Conduct research as needed to ensure accuracy and depth of content
- Optimize digital content for SEO and performance
- Proofread and edit copy to ensure clarity, consistency, grammar, and adherence to AP style and Interlochen’s internal style guide
- Contribute to the evolution and refinement of brand voice and messaging over time
- Demonstrates strong professional accountability, including consistent adherence to working hours, punctuality in meetings, and reliability in meeting deadlines
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment with regular meetings, real-time feedback, and cross-functional communication throughout the day
- Punctual, responsive, and able to manage deadlines across multiple concurrent projects across various Interlochen programs and business units including Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen Arts Camp, Interlochen Online, Interlochen Presents, and Interlochen Hospitality - ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met
- Incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders and revise content efficiently while maintaining clarity and voice consistency
- Manage copy writing projects from concept through final delivery, proactively communicating timelines, questions, and progress
- Adapt messaging for distinct audiences, including prospective students, families, donors, and arts patrons
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent on-the-job experience
- 2 - 6 years of experience in marketing and communications
- Familiarity with Mac laptops and Google Suite
- Working knowledge of SEO best practices
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong command of grammar and AP style
- Ability to balance creativity with strategic and analytical thinking
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences and communication channels
- Experience working within arts, education, or mission-driven organizations preferred
- Willingness to travel occasionally for events or on-site content gathering
- Strong instinct for concise, high-impact writing, with the ability to communicate effectively within tight word counts and structured formats
