Salary: $44,000-$48,000, depending on experience

Bethesda Magazine/Bethesda Today is looking for a highly organized, collaborative digital producer who’s comfortable with the ins and outs of most major online publishing platforms, can take direction and offer constructive input, is willingto adapt to existing style guidelines while making welcome suggestions on ways to make everything from digital and print features to newsletters and social media stand out, and ideally is well-rounded not only in their skillset but their own personal tastes and interests, as there will be opportunities to be involved editorially if primary duties are fulfilled.
In a nutshell, we need someone who can be the glue in our daily workflow, as well as approach the job with strategic and visual panache. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear more.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Building e-newsletters and alerts for daily and weekly delivery.
- Uploading and formatting print issues of Bethesda Magazine on website.
- Managing website edits, updates, and special programming such as Best of voting.
- Writing/editing web content as needed.
- Building listings on online directories.
- Building and designing multiple daily articles on the website.
- Monitoring newsroom content for best image/SEO/web practices.
- Reporting on platform analytics.
- Managing social media, including post creation, publishing, and content management through a third-party platform and Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
Desired skills:
- Proficiency in HTML and most CMS tools, ActiveCampaign, InDesign, Photoshop, Office, WordPress, etc. is a must.
- Graphic design abilities to complement technical requirements and ability to create infographics on Canva and/or Photoshop.
- Proven multitasking ability on disparate tasks.
- Clear, effective communication and a cool head under pressure. A partner in problem-solving.
- A demonstrated sense of what distinguishes content from that of competing sites.
- The ability to take direction and run with it.
- Digital editorial experience and proofreading are a plus, as is video editing.
- 2+ years working in fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Flexibility to work later and/or sign on at intermittent periods to accommodate breaking news content.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be able to commute to our office in Bethesda. No relocation assistance provided. Must be able to work occasional night and weekend hours for Bethesda Magazine events.
