The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. In partnership with key organizational leaders, the Communications Specialist works to coordinate communication that informs and engages employees, connecting them to internal and external updates and information to drive alignment between the organization’s mission and the individual. Utilizing their communication expertise, this role will create content using a variety of formats to support organizational messaging, strengthen trust and understanding of strategic priorities, and support engagement and culture across the Coalition. This position supports organizational communication and centralizes communication for the CCH workforce to better inform and coordinate CCH staff and their operations.
NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date.
The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance. Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.

Essential Job Functions
- Plans, writes, edits, and designs content for a variety of CCH staff communication channels, such as the organizational newsletter, screensaver bulletins, managers’ and staff briefings, email messaging, flyers, etc. in alignment with mission and brand standards
- Ensures organizational initiatives, program updates, and new and ongoing project updates are successfully communicated and centralized for employees and stakeholders.
- Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, works collaboratively across the organization, particularly with those departments that share communication responsibility, to deliver on organizational communication strategy with clear, appropriate and consistent messaging using accessible communication channels across the organization.
- Aligns closely with external communication efforts to clearly inform staff and external audiences about CCH programs & services through various channels (i.e., CCH website, 211, FindHelp, etc.).
- Creates and distributes messaging by the Coalition that is trauma-informed and culturally appropriate.
- Partners directly with the Executive Office on organizational communication, including planning organizational meetings (i.e., All-Staff meetings and staff engagement) and preparing, reviewing, and revising organizational messaging for staff audiences. Collects, analyzes, and reports out on monthly E&A metrics and synthesizes results of organizational meetings (i.e., All-Staff meetings and staff engagement) for communication to staff and leadership to support feedback and engagement.
- Participates in planning, development, and execution of internal and external in-person events to include grand openings, groundbreakings, Lobby Day and the Homeless Persons’ Memorial Vigil while providing support for other priority CCH events and anniversaries as capacity allows.
- Participates in planning, development, and execution of virtual events such as the Education Series, staff engagement sessions, and All-Staff meetings, including backend webinar administration via Zoom and Microsoft Teams and design and implementation of engagement tools (e.g., Mentimeter, surveys, polls).
- Ensures timely & accurate use of organizational systems as required while maintaining complete up-to-date records and any future upgrades as directed.

Qualifications Summary
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in communication or similar discipline preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in communication, public relations, marketing, or related programs required.
- Strong written communication experience required.
- Experience in the non-profit or government sector is strongly preferred, ideally in the fields of homelessness, healthcare, human or social services, affordable housing, public policy, or similar.
- Experience coordinating workforce communication messaging in medium to large organizations preferred.
- Must be able to communicate information clearly and effectively through multiple mediums to diverse audiences with varied reading levels.
- Demonstrated ability to use full suite of Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint management and Microsoft Teams (including webinar functionality), Constant Contact (or similar email platform), Zoom (including back-end webinar functionality), Canva or Adobe, and general website platforms required.
- Ability to present to, interact with, and advise executive leadership and other key stakeholders on communication strategies and best practices.
$62,499 - $74,999 a year
