Job Summary
The CRM & Loyalty Marketing Specialist owns the execution, management, and optimization of Hog Island Oyster Co.'s customer marketing programs. This role is responsible for email marketing, from design and build to deployment and performance analysis, alongside loyalty program administration, customer database management, and cross-platform marketing analytics.
Working closely with the Brand Director and Creative Content & Digital Media Strategist, this role develops and executes targeted communications that drive guest engagement, loyalty participation, customer retention, and revenue across restaurants, retail, tours, events, and e-commerce channels. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong grasp of marketing technology platforms and customer data and either some design experience or a genuine interest in developing those skills. Comfort working independently while collaborating across a small, fast-moving team is a must.
Essential Duties + Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Email Marketing Management
- Design, build, schedule, deploy, and monitor email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp and other marketing platforms, owning the visual execution of campaigns in close collaboration with the Creative Content & Digital Media Strategist on copy and content
- Contribute to and execute against the email marketing calendar in coordination with the marketing team
- Develop customer segmentation strategies to improve engagement and campaign effectiveness
- Execute automated customer journeys including: Welcome campaigns, Loyalty communications, Event promotions, Seasonal campaigns, Win-back campaigns, Customer retention initiatives
- Maintain email list hygiene and ensure compliance with applicable marketing and privacy regulations
- Conduct A/B testing and campaign optimization efforts
- Monitor email performance metrics and recommend improvements
Loyalty Program Administration
- Serve as primary administrator for Toast Loyalty and future customer loyalty platforms
- Manage loyalty program setup, promotions, offers, and customer communications
- Monitor enrollment, participation, redemption, and guest engagement trends
- Develop recommendations to improve loyalty program performance
- Partner with restaurant operations teams to support loyalty initiatives and promotions
Marketing Analytics & Reporting
- Compile, analyze, and report marketing performance metrics across multiple platforms
- Develop recurring reports and dashboards for leadership review
- Track and analyze: Email open rates, Click-through rates, Conversions, Customer acquisition and retention, Loyalty participation, Campaign ROI and Database growth
- Provide actionable recommendations based on campaign and customer behavior data
Customer Data & Database Management
- Manage customer databases and audience segmentation strategies
- Maintain data integrity across marketing platforms
- Analyze customer behavior trends and purchasing patterns
- Develop targeted audience groups to support business initiatives
- Support database growth and customer retention objectives
Cross-Platform Marketing Support
- Gather and synthesize customer and marketing data from: Toast, Mailchimp/ Klaviyo, Goldbelly, Resy, AnyRoad, Google Analytics, Other third-party marketing and reservation platforms
- Provide marketing support for restaurant openings, seasonal promotions, tours and experiences, special events, retail initiatives, and e-commerce campaigns
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Brand Director to execute annual marketing plans and campaigns
- Work closely with the Creative Content & Digital Media Strategist to align messaging across channels
- Partner with restaurant, events, tours, retail, and operations teams to support business objectives
- Assist with special projects and marketing initiatives as assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in marketing, CRM, loyalty, email marketing, digital marketing, or related field
- Experience managing email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp and Klaviyo
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, comfortable interpreting data to inform marketing decisions
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across teams
- Valid California Driver's License and ability to travel to Hog Island locations throughout Northern California
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with Toast POS and Toast Loyalty
- Background in hospitality, restaurants, food and beverage, retail, tourism, or consumer brands
- Familiarity with Goldbelly, Resy, AnyRoad, and/or Google Analytics
- Experience with marketing automation platforms
- Experience with email design tools (Adobe, Canva, Figma, or similar) — or a demonstrated interest in developing design skills
- Familiarity with customer lifecycle marketing and CRM strategy
- Experience building dashboards and marketing reports
- Understanding of customer retention and loyalty program best practices
