POSITION TITLE: Marketing Communications Content Specialist

Primary Purpose/Position Summary
Develop, research, write, edit and strategically manage and produce editorial and marketing content across a variety of platforms with a focus on content creation for web, social media and advertising that advances and promotes the mission of Dominican University while ensuring brand consistency, audience engagement and alignment with institutional communications goals.

Job Components/Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Create engaging, informative and persuasive editorial and marketing content for both print and digital platforms within Dominican University's distinct brand voice
- Develop compelling content and copy for university marketing and advertising campaigns across multiple channels, including student recruitment campaigns, landing pages, email communications and website content.
- Contribute to and execute content for all university social media channels, including day-to-day posting and scheduling as well as long-term content planning, with a focus on capturing and creating engaging short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
- Manage and mentor a team of student content creators, including assigning projects, providing creative direction and ensuring content aligns with university brand standards and strategic goals.
- Identify and respond to emerging social media trends, platform best practices and audience engagement opportunities to grow reach and engagement across university channels.
- Manage projects through the full creative process, from initial assignment and concepting through drafting, revision and final production
- Edit and proofread content to ensure high editorial standards and brand consistency are met across all communications.
- Review marketing materials produced by university colleges, schools and departments to ensure adherence to brand voice and institutional style.
- Support the writing and editing needs of campus clients as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES: (Required knowledge, skills, abilities)
- Proven ability to write and develop action-focused editorial and marketing content within a distinct brand voice.
- Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms and content production, digital content best practices and emerging trends in content marketing.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with a keen and diligent eye for detail, language, flow and grammar.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Education And Experience
- 3-5 years experience in copywriting at a demonstrably high level of quality.
- Demonstrated experience managing or contributing to social media channels and creating digital content across multiple platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
- Experience in higher education is preferred, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
SALARY AND FLSA STATUS
- Salary: $50,000 - $53,000 annually
- FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried), Full-time (at least 37.5 hours per week)
