The Vagabond's Verse is a literary publication known for its sharp, unconventional voice, often described as “like The New Yorker, but with two Marlboro cigarettes and a vodka.” The magazine focuses on bold, boundary-pushing fiction, essays, poetry, and cultural commentary.
As we enter our next chapter, we're expanding our editorial team and looking for thoughtful, curious people who believe that art, literature, and journalism can genuinely shape culture and our growth.
Qualifications
- Strong Writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and stylistically consistent editorial content.
- Editorial and Research skills to evaluate submissions, refine manuscripts, and support accurate, well-informed publishing decisions.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with the editorial team and corresponding respectfully and clearly with authors.
- Basic Marketing skills to support promotional efforts, such as drafting social media blurbs or short campaign copy.
- Demonstrated interest in contemporary literature, culture, and commentary, with an eye for unconventional or experimental work.
- Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
- Prior experience in publishing, editing, or zines/magazines is beneficial but not required.
- Access to reliable internet and readiness to work collaboratively across time zones.
