Position Summary:
Activate is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to lead our digital marketing strategy and keep our agency, creative team, and internal stakeholders moving in the same direction.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will oversee paid search, SEO, social media, website content, and email marketing. The primary measure of success is simple: generating more qualified, biddable opportunities for Activate.
This is a management role, not a one-person marketing department. The right person knows how to set priorities, manage partners, analyze performance, and get strong work out the door on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Agency Leadership
- Manage Activate's digital marketing agency, including priorities, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and overall accountability.
- Translate Activate's business goals, sales priorities, and lead-quality feedback into clear strategic direction.
- Evaluate agency performance based on qualified leads, pipeline contribution, and business outcomes, not simply impressions, clicks, or platform recommendations.
- Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer regarding performance, opportunities, and future priorities.
Paid Search & Lead Generation:
- Oversee Google Ads strategy, budgets, targeting, messaging, landing pages, and conversion tracking.
- Monitor campaign performance, including cost per lead, cost per qualified lead, conversion rates, search terms, and overall lead quality.
- Partner with Sales and Leadership to continually refine campaigns based on business development results.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
- Lead keyword strategy, technical SEO initiatives, service-page optimization, and organic content planning.
- Improve search visibility for Activate's core service offerings, including Brand Activations, Mobile Tours, Live Events, and PR Kits.
- Use search performance data to prioritize website improvements and future content development.
Social Media Management:
- Manage Activate's LinkedIn and Instagram content calendars and publishing schedule.
- Partner with the Creative team to develop project recaps, thought leadership, company news, employee highlights, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Ensure content is developed, approved, and published according to schedule.
- Drive meaningful engagement with clients, prospects, employees, and industry partners.
- Review performance and use the data to improve future content.
Website Strategy & Content:
- Manage the development of case studies, landing pages, service pages, blog content, and other website updates.
- Coordinate the agency and Creative team through strategy, copywriting, design, approvals, and launch.
- Keep the website current, on-brand, search-friendly, and focused on converting the right visitors.
- Identify new content needs based on sales priorities, search performance, and Activate's evolving capabilities.
Email Marketing:
- Manage Activate's newsletter calendar, content, production, and distribution.
- Coordinate with the creative team to produce clear, useful, visually strong emails.
- Track engagement, website traffic, conversions, and audience growth.
- Use results to improve topics, timing, format, and calls to action.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, performance marketing, or integrated marketing.
- Experience managing Google Ads and evaluating lead-generation performance.
- Experience managing digital marketing agencies or external marketing partners.
- Working knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, conversion tracking, website content management, email marketing, and social media platforms.
- Strong writing, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to interpret marketing data and translate insights into clear business decisions.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable holding both internal teams and external partners accountable for results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (Asana experience preferred).
- Experience in B2B marketing, experiential marketing, agency environments, or other high-consideration sales industries strongly preferred.
