Location: Washington, DC (with some hybrid flexibility)

Position Overview
The Nimitz Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support our content development, digital communications, and audience engagement efforts. This role is ideal for a college student or a new graduate interested in communications, government affairs, media, marketing, or digital strategy.
The intern will play a key role in creating, editing, and distributing content for The Nimitz Group's online newsletter and social media channels while helping strengthen the firm's digital presence and thought leadership.
Responsibilities
- Newsletter Content
- Edit and proofread articles, updates, and announcements for the company's online newsletter
- Assist in researching topics, drafting content, and developing newsletter features
- Format and prepare content for publication
- Monitor newsletter performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
Content Development
- Repurpose newsletter and long-form content into social media posts and other digital assets
- Support the creation of thought leadership content, blog posts, and company updates
- Monitor engagement and help identify relevant trends and opportunities for audience growth
- Assist with basic graphic design, video editing, and multimedia content production as needed
- Conduct research on industry trends, communications best practices, and relevant news topics
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and content best practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently
- Interest in communications, public affairs, public policy, government affairs, media, or related fields
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Canva or similar design tools
- Experience with newsletter platforms
- Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools
- Basic video editing experience
- Some experience in politics or government relations (ex. Congressional Internship)
- Veteran or military-connected individual
