Position Overview
United Way of Utah County is seeking a creative, relationship-driven Donor Relations & Communications Officer to lead donor communications and engagement strategies that strengthen relationships, inspire generosity, and demonstrate the impact of giving.
This role combines fundraising communications, marketing, technology, and donor stewardship. The Donor Relations Officer will lead donor email communications, direct mail campaigns, fundraising appeals, and stewardship efforts while improving the systems and technology used to create personalized donor experiences.
The position also manages relationships with Leadership Donors giving $1,000–$4,999 through meetings, events, and personalized outreach that encourage continued and increased giving.
The ideal candidate enjoys writing, building relationships, managing projects, learning new technology, and connecting people with meaningful causes.
Compensation: $19–21/hour, depending on experience, plus an excellent benefits package.
Job Responsibilities
Donor Communications & Engagement
- Lead donor communication strategies across multiple fundraising campaigns and donor audiences.
- Develop annual donor communication calendars for fundraising, stewardship, and engagement.
- Write and coordinate donor emails, direct mail, fundraising appeals, giving statements, post-campaign thank-you communications, and donor recognition.
- Manage segmented email campaigns that deliver personalized communications based on donor interests and giving history.
- Evaluate and implement new email marketing platforms, communication tools, and workflows that improve donor engagement and efficiency.
- Develop donor segmentation, automation, and communication systems that strengthen stewardship and retention.
- Analyze campaign performance and recommend new strategies to improve donor engagement and fundraising results.
Leadership Donor Development
- Cultivate and steward Leadership Donors giving $1,000–$4,999 annually through meetings, events, and personalized outreach.
- Identify prospective leadership donors and help grow the pipeline to major giving.
- Coordinate donor tours, cottage meetings, volunteer experiences, and other engagement opportunities.
Fundraising Campaigns
- Lead donor communications for campaigns supporting programs such as Sub for Santa, Summer Learning, Community Centers, and year-end giving.
- Coordinate fundraising communications with the Corporate Engagement, Individual Philanthropy, Volunteer Center, and Marketing teams.
- Help create compelling stories and donor experiences that demonstrate the impact of giving.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, marketing, communications, public relations, sales, customer success, or relationship management.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems and email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp is preferred.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Creative problem solver who enjoys improving systems and processes.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for meetings throughout Utah County.
- Willingness to occasionally work early mornings, evenings, or weekends for donor events and community activities.
