Job Summary
NowThis is seeking a talented, experienced, digital and social savvy Editor in Chief to lead our editorial team. This individual will manage a team of producers and content creators across our two main channels: NowThis and NowThis Impact. Reporting to the CEO, the Editor in Chief will lead the entire company's editorial vision and content development.
We’re looking for an established editorial leader with an incomparable understanding of social video, social trends and levers to drive strong brand awareness and success on these highly competitive platforms. This individual must be comfortable across our two main channel identities: NowThis, focusing on general interest and lifestyle content appealing to A18-34, and NowThis Impact, focusing on a discrete list of topics proven to drive impact for the progressive agenda against A18-30 who are not hard-news consumers but rather find their information via social. Success in this role will be defined as material growth in platform views and engagement rate, development of personalities and franchises that have strong brand recognition and monetization outcomes, optimized efficiencies and workflows in the editorial team, and a strong rebirth of the main channels as industry leaders in social video. The ideal candidate has strong editorial vision, sharp leadership skills, a collaborative spirit combined with a decisive approach, the desire to work in a startup environment and a deep understanding of digital and social video best practices.
What You'll Do
- Manage a team of 15 producers and editors, of which 9 are members of the WGAE
- Determine the editorial vision of the two main channels across Instagram, TikTok, Snap, YouTube and Spotify
- Create and execute content output vision and goals by channel and oversee execution
- Identity and engage outside creators or studios that can enhance the editorial output of NowThis and drive strong brand awareness and recognition of the NowThis
- Champion innovative content and audience experience that push the envelope and keep NowThis at the forefront of innovation
- Support both impact revenue and advertising revenue goals through the development of both effective impact content that meets C3/C4 grant goals and brand-safe, general interest content that yields an environment suitable for advertising as well as content suitable for sponsorship
- Develop a strong in-office editorial culture with area creators and staffers
- Oversee in-studio shoots and encourage constant use of our studio resources in NYC
Must Haves
- Minimum 10+ years experience in a leadership role in a creative or editorial environment, social-video-first environments, and experience preferred
- Unparallelled leadership skills, editorial vision and ability to push editorial team members outside of their comfort zone to achieve high-volume production goals with lean processes that incorporate experimentation
- Deep understanding of digital and social best practices for follower, engagement rate and view growth.
- A passion for social trends, an obsession with death scrolling social feeds, the need to be first to be part of a trend and an understanding of where content and platforms are going.
- Exceptional communication and management skills
- A proven track record in people management, with a strong emphasis on advocating for team members, nurturing and developing talent, and implementing effective succession planning to ensure organizational growth

Compensation & Benefits
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $125,000 to $200,000, with additional performance-based compensation. An employee's position within this range will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs.
