!!ONSITE 2-3 DAYS A WEEK!!
Job Description
The IT Content Specialist is responsible for planning, writing, and producing engaging content for IT's pages on corporate intranet (Simpplr). This role is focused on storytelling and content creation — the ideal candidate knows how to turn technical and operational IT information into clear, visually engaging, and easy-to-find content that employees actually want to read. The role does involve building and laying out pages using Simpplr's existing tools and templates, but this is not an engineering or development position — no coding, custom development, or platform building is required. Platform experience is not required; we're looking for a strong Content Specialist who is collaborative, creative, and comfortable partnering with technical stakeholders to translate their work into compelling communications.
This role has a hybrid work schedule (3 days on-site) for candidates based in Irving, TX, Tampa, FL, or Phoenix, AZ.
Responsibilities
- Plan, write, and publish engaging content on IT's intranet pages, translating technical and operational topics into clear, employee-friendly communications.
- Partner closely with IT leaders, engineers, and program teams to understand initiatives and turn them into stories, updates, and announcements.
- Think visually about every piece of content — pairing writing with images, graphics, video, or other visual elements that make content more engaging and easier to understand.
- Build and manage a content calendar for IT communications, balancing recurring updates with timely announcements.
- Use Simpplr's existing page-building tools, templates, and layouts to publish and display content — no coding or custom development involved.
- Organize IT content so it's easy to find, well-structured, and consistent in tone and style.
- Maintain brand and voice consistency across all IT intranet content, in partnership with Communications and Marketing.
- Gather feedback and engagement data on published content and use it to continuously improve what and how IT communicates.
- Collaborate with platform administrators and IT stakeholders to troubleshoot content or publishing issues as needed.
- Learn and grow proficiency in Simpplr (our intranet platform) on the job — prior platform experience is not required.
- Stay current on content trends, storytelling techniques, and best practices for internal communications.
- Utilize AI-assisted content creation and productivity tools to draft, refine, summarize, and optimize written and visual content while ensuring accuracy, brand consistency, security, and compliance with company AI governance policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (in any field), or 2+ years of experience in a similar content-creation or communications-focused role, in lieu of a degree.
- 2+ years of experience creating content in a corporate, communications, marketing, or editorial setting (intranet experience not required).
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to make technical or complex topics clear and engaging for a broad audience.
- A genuine understanding of the importance of visuals in content — knows how to pair writing with images, graphics, or video to tell a stronger story.
- A collaborative mindset — comfortable partnering with technical stakeholders (especially IT) to gather information and shape it into content.
- A portfolio or examples of previous content work (articles, newsletters, web copy, social content, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple content pieces and deadlines at once.
- Experience using AI-powered productivity or content creation tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, Adobe Firefly, or similar) to support writing, editing, research, or creative workflows.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Simpplr, SharePoint Online, or other enterprise intranet platforms.
- Basic familiarity with graphic design or content tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar.
- Basic photo or video editing skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies (Teams, Viva Connections).
- Experience with internal communications metrics or analytics tools.
- Experience working in Agile or cross-functional project environments.
- Experience Producing Podcasts
Characteristics We're Looking For
- Creative and curious — always looking for a better or more interesting way to tell a story.
- A visual thinker who instinctively considers how something will look, not just what it will say.
- Highly collaborative, with the emotional intelligence to build trust with technical teams who aren't natural storytellers themselves.
- Adaptable — comfortable picking up a new platform (Simpplr) and evolving processes as the intranet matures.
- Self-directed with strong follow-through; can take a rough update from an IT stakeholder and turn it into finished content with minimal hand-holding.
- Detail-oriented about tone, clarity, and consistency across everything published.
- Genuinely curious about IT and technology topics, even without a technical background.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Employee engagement with IT intranet content (views, time on page, feedback).
- Consistency and cadence of content publishing.
- Employee satisfaction with clarity and usefulness of IT communications.
- Reduction in questions/confusion tied to poorly communicated IT updates.
- Stakeholder satisfaction with content turnaround and quality.
