The Opportunity:
Weiss Ratings seeks an experienced Managing Editor to elevate the quality, quantity and impact of our investment and trading services.
This is a brand-new role for an editor and writer with big ideas, strong editorial judgment and fluency in today’s hottest investment classes.
The ideal candidate also has a clear voice and ability to deliver timely content that resonates with the interests and priorities of fiscally conservative investors.
The successful candidate will manage a suite of investment newsletters whose picks come straight from the Weiss stock ratings and our proprietary algorithms that pinpoint ideal times to own those assets.
They will also use our proprietary investment, banking and insurance ratings to write original articles for our website and syndication efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Editorial Leadership & Content Development:
Edit financial research, investment analysis, and commentary for accuracy, clarity, brevity, and logical flow. Ensure consistently high editorial standards across all publications. Contribute bylined articles, free content, and other editorial materials that support subscriber engagement and business growth.
Collaboration & Subject Matter Fluency:
Work closely with analysts, researchers, and internal teams to refine structure, narrative, and presentation. Develop deep fluency in Weiss Ratings’ proprietary ratings, trading systems, investment strategies, and product offerings, including Weiss Ratings Plus and technology-focused investing products.
Audience Advocacy:
Serve as a primary advocate for members and users of Weiss Ratings’ stock, insurance, and banking products, ensuring content meets reader needs and expectations. Maintain a strong understanding of the mindset, concerns, and interests of fiscally conservative investors.
Expert Performance Oversight:
Act as a champion for in-house experts while holding them accountable to editorial standards and performance benchmarks.
Data & Performance Tracking:
Track expert predictions, trades, and performance metrics, which form the analytical foundation of each publication.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Manage editorial priorities and timelines across Copy, Marketing, Member Care, Sales, and other internal teams to meet multiple deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Solid background in financial, investment, or economic content.
- Experience working in financial publishing (InvestorPlace, Agora, or similar firms strongly preferred).
- Proven experience as a bylined writer and editor.
- Strong understanding of the interests, concerns, and motivations of fiscally conservative investors.
- Obsession with accuracy across facts, figures, prices, and tickers.
- Strong editorial judgment with the ability to simplify complex information without sacrificing precision.
- Proven ability to collaborate in shared-document environments and function as a strong team player.
- Ability to juggle multiple editorial deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Technical & Work Style Skills:
- Comfort working in collaborative digital workflows and shared document platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a deadline-driven setting.
