About the Opportunity
An international law firm is hiring an Awards & Rankings Senior Specialist in Boston, MA, New York, NY, or Washington, DC to coordinate submissions to leading legal directories, including Chambers and Legal 500, as well as editorial awards and industry surveys.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, legal marketing, or professional services marketing
- Law firm experience strongly preferred, particularly experience with legal awards, rankings, or directory submissions
- Experience managing complex projects, deadlines, and multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong editing and proofreading capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, particularly when managing complex submissions and multiple deadlines
- Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage projects with minimal supervision
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, senior stakeholders, colleagues, and external contacts
- Ability to establish expertise and serve as a trusted resource for legal awards, rankings, and directory submissions
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Adaptability and willingness to learn and incorporate new technologies and AI-enabled tools into marketing and communications workflows
- Ability to contribute to cross-functional marketing, communications, and business development projects
Key Job Functions
- Identify and track opportunities for the organization and its attorneys to compete for legal awards, rankings, and editorial recognition across legal and business publications
- Draft and coordinate 200+ awards, rankings, and directory submissions, managing each submission from opportunity assessment through results tracking and promotion
- Develop and maintain submission timelines, workflows, templates, and supporting materials to ensure accurate and timely submissions
- Provide guidance on awards strategy, submission positioning, criteria, deadlines, and best practices
- Partner with communications leadership to analyze and report on results from legal directories, awards, and other recognition programs
- Collaborate with practice groups, attorneys, and business development professionals to ensure submissions align with organizational messaging, strategic priorities, and market positioning
- Maintain centralized awards and rankings databases, tracking systems, and historical records to support future submissions, reporting, and strategic planning
- Draft internal and external communications announcing legal rankings, awards, and professional recognitions
- Collaborate with Public Relations and Marketing Communications teams to promote recognitions across the organization’s website, marketing materials, and other communications channels
- Maintain and update the organization’s profiles on Chambers and other legal directories
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with attorneys, staff, directory researchers, editors, award organizers, vendors, and other external stakeholders
- Conduct ongoing market research and competitive intelligence related to legal rankings, awards, directories, and industry trends to identify new opportunities and inform participation decisions
- Identify and implement process improvements to tracking systems, templates, workflows, and submission processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Manage multiple short- and long-term projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
- Collaborate with the Public Relations, Marketing Communications, and Clients & Markets teams on additional marketing and business development initiatives as needed
- Embrace evolving technology, including generative AI and other marketing tools, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and innovation
