The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is a generalist role that supports the day-to-day execution of Public Interest Registry's marketing and communications programs. Rather than specializing in a single channel, this position works across marketing, communications, and administrative functions to keep existing M&C programs and initiatives running smoothly — from content development and campaign support to internal communications, reporting, and event planning and support. This role is a strong fit for someone early in their marketing/communications career who wants broad, hands-on exposure across the discipline and is looking to grow into a more specialized or managerial role over time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Support the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications and the broader M&C team in the day-to-day execution of existing marketing and communications programs and initiatives.
• Assist with the development and scheduling of content across digital, social, email marketing, blogs, and web channels, ensuring consistency with PIR's brand voice and style guidelines. Specifically, as it relates to both PIR and NetBeacon’s social media platforms.
• Help maintain the team's editorial and campaign calendars, tracking deliverables, deadlines, and approvals across multiple concurrent projects.
• Draft, proofread, and format written materials such as newsletters, web copy, social posts, presentations, talking points, and internal communications.
• Serve as the primary intake point for internal requests, systematically organizing and prioritizing communication needs from various teams across the organization.
• Coordinate logistics for M&C-supported events, webinars, and sponsorships, including scheduling, vendor communication, and occasional on-site [KR1.1]or virtual support.
• Support the Digital Marketing Manager in compiling performance data and preparing regular reports on marketing metrics to inform ongoing campaigns.
• Maintain the department's digital asset library, media lists, and distribution lists, and help ensure marketing/communications materials are current and organized.
• Support internal communications efforts, including employee updates and materials that help align staff with marketing and communications initiatives.
• Assist with vendor and agency coordination (e.g., design, printing, media monitoring, and other outside partners) under the guidance of the Senior Director.
• Provide general administrative and project support to the Marketing and Communications team as needed, including invoice processing.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Marketing and Communications team.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of professional experience spanning marketing and/or communications functions (e.g., content, social media, digital marketing, PR, internal communications, or events); breadth across areas is valued over depth in a single specialty.
• Experience with common marketing/communications tools such as email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite), content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and basic design tools (e.g., Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and follow through on details without close supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to grammar, tone, and brand voice.
• Solid organizational skills and comfort managing several projects and stakeholders at once.
• Basic understanding of marketing and communications principles across channels (digital, social, email, PR, and internal communications), rather than deep expertise in one area.
• Ability to take direction, ask clarifying questions, and exercise good judgment on when to escalate issues.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach and willingness to support colleagues across the department as priorities shift.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
