The P750 Strategic Engagement and Communications Team within the MITRE Public Sector’s Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH) leads the external outreach strategy and execution for projects within the National Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). Team members develop strategies for external communications, events, stakeholder engagement and develop materials and artifacts for dissemination to key stakeholders and the general public. As part of their role, team members advise and influence both sponsor and internal MITRE teams on effective engagement and communication strategies, techniques, and tactics.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the editing, formatting, and release of publications for projects within the National Cybersecurity FFRDC, and other projects as assigned.
- Perform technical editing and formatting for formal and informal publications, documents, and deliverables according to agency-specific requirements, including Section 508 compliance.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders within MITRE and sponsor agencies to manage the pipeline of publications, coordinate the review and approval process, and prepare publications for release.
- Provide regular status updates and briefings on the status of publications within the publications pipeline to internal MITRE staff and agency leadership, as needed.
- Manage publication tracking tools used to monitor and report on publication status, including supervising functional enhancements and testing.
- Manage assigned contractors and support staff for technical editing and formatting; reviews work products to ensure they meet quality expectations.
- Develop and deliver communications and training for MITRE and agency staff on the publications process, templates, tools, etc., as needed.
- Assist with the development of external communications materials, including briefs, presentations, talking points, blogs, event materials, web content, emails, social media content, and stakeholder-facing artifacts.
- Help maintain, communication calendars, distribution lists, and engagement trackers, as assigned.
- Support the design and ongoing measurement of related metrics and KPIs.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting multiple projects, incorporating feedback, and adapting to changing priorities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English, international affairs, cybersecurity policy, or a related field.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, concise, and audience-appropriate materials.
- Ability to organize and support multiple tasks or projects with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to learn technical or mission-focused content and translate it into accessible communications for external audiences.
- Experience using standard business tools such as Microsoft Office applications for presentations, documents, spreadsheets, and meeting coordination.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat to generate 508-compliant documents in PDF format.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to support event, meeting, or stakeholder engagement activities in a fast-paced, dynamic professional environment.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Suitability U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship, academic, or professional experience in communications, outreach, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, or event coordination.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, technology, federal government, or federally funded research environments.
- Previous experience as a technical editor for academic or professional publications.
- Experience developing or supporting presentations, briefing materials, newsletters, social content, or web content.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Experience using Microsoft excel and relevant project management tools.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills with careful attention to quality and consistency.
