UIDP is seeking a highly organized, creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented Marketing Communications Coordinator with exceptional writing and communications skills to support its editorial content and marketing efforts. This position will develop, edit, and coordinate compelling content across multiple channels, translating UIDP’s programs, initiatives, and grant-funded activities into clear, engaging communications for members, partners, and other audiences.
The Marketing Communications Coordinator will work closely with UIDP staff, members, and external partners to identify story opportunities, gather insights, and produce polished content that advances UIDP’s mission. The ideal candidate brings strong editorial judgment, meticulous attention to accuracy and tone, and the ability to manage editorial calendars and deadlines while adapting complex information for diverse audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Editorial Content and Story Development
- Write, edit, and proofread clear, engaging content, adapting messages for different audiences and channels.
- Draft newsletters, promotional emails, website content, program resources, and other communications materials.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from staff, members, partners, and program participants to develop stories, profiles, and promotional content.
- Apply brand standards consistently, maintaining accuracy, clarity, and a cohesive voice.
Editorial Planning and Content Coordination
- Maintain editorial and email calendars, coordinate content submissions, and track deadlines.
- Incorporate approved edits and prepare content for production and distribution.
- Maintain organized drafts, approved copy, and final materials in designated shared folders and project trackers.
Email Production and Quality Assurance
- Serve as the primary coordinator for routine Informz email production, including entering approved copy, updating templates, formatting content, and adding graphics and links.
- Prepare test emails for review and incorporate approved changes.
- Check content, links, dates, formatting, and audience selections before scheduling emails, following established approval procedures.
Social Media and Digital Campaign Support
- Prepare social media copy and coordinate supporting visuals.
- Provide support for social media scheduling and posting under direction.
- Prepare campaign copy and assist with implementing Feathr geotargeting campaigns, abandoned-cart follow-up campaigns, and other digital marketing efforts.
Event and Program Communications
- Coordinate event communications, including registration copy, speaking and presentation materials, and attendee communications,
- Coordinate post-event communications, including thank-you messages, recaps, resource links, presentation materials, and follow-up promotions.
- Draft, build, proofread, and distribute event and program surveys.
- Coordinate survey questions with relevant staff, track responses, and summarize findings to inform future communications and programming.
Marketing Collateral and Production Support
- Draft copy for flyers, presentations, and other promotional materials.
- Edit and update collateral using established templates.
- Provide backup support for basic design and production updates, collaborating with the visual media coordinator.
Performance Reporting and Team Collaboration
- Compile email, social media, and campaign performance data and draft summaries to support reporting and future improvements.
- Collaborate with staff, provide backup coverage, and adjust assignments as priorities change.
Other Duties as Assigned
- This position may be responsible for a variety of additional tasks to support the effective operation of the organization. These may include general administrative functions, clerical support, document preparation, data entry, scheduling assistance, meeting coordination, filing, supply management, and other office-related activities. Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs, and flexibility and a collaborative approach are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience in marketing communications, editorial content, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Experience writing, editing, and proofreading content for email, websites, social media, and other communications channels.
- Experience managing editorial calendars, coordinating content contributions, and meeting deadlines across multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex, technical, or research-focused information into clear content for varied audiences and platforms.
- Working knowledge of AP style
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms, content management systems, and basic campaign reporting; experience with Informz or Feathr is a plus.
- Experience in a membership association, nonprofit, higher education, or research-focused organization is preferred.
- A portfolio or writing samples demonstrating editorial judgment, versatility, accuracy, and the ability to adapt content across channels.

LOCATION
Candidates must currently reside in South Carolina. This position is based in Columbia, South Carolina, and follows UIDP’s hybrid work schedule, requiring staff to work in the office at least three days per week.
