Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Communications & Marketing (DCM) and collaborating with internal teams, the Communications Coordinator supports the planning, creation and implementation of integrated marketing and communications initiatives. The role is both strategic and creative, contributing significantly to raising public awareness of AOTF mission, research programs, and initiatives.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Maintain editorial calendar, collaborate with staff and partners to create content that shows the Foundation's impact. Acts as a brand steward, ensuring consistency across all visual and written communications.
- Maintain the website in collaboration with DCM: update content (in collaboration with staff), track website analytics, and liaison with the website hosting company.
- Manage emails, and track results including open-rate and click-rate.
- Manage day-to-day activities on social media platforms in collaboration with DCM (Instagram, Facebook LinkedIn, X, and YouTube).
- Digital media: in collaboration with DCM, produce weekly email blasts; monthly Research Resources newsletter; and proof quarterly honor society newsletter. Analyze results and adjust to optimize effectiveness.
- Print media: in collaboration with DCM, produce annual reports and a variety of brochures, flyers and signs.
- Scan news for articles and topics of interest to AOTF stakeholders.
- In collaboration with DCM, promote and support AOTF events including annual conference: website, email, social media, app; production of AOTF booth and signage; event program brochures, plus on-site support.
- In collaboration with DCM and Scientific ProgramsOfficer (SPO), propose program content, arrange rehearsal prep if needed, set up platform for registration and production for events including webinars, follow-up with basic video editing as needed, manage archive and contacts in database.
- In collaboration with DCM, optimize database learning and using best practices, maximize features to set up structures to ensure integrity and quality, particularly for proper segmentation.
- Backup support and liaison to the editor and publisher of OTJR: Occupational Therapy Journal of Research.
- Other duties as assigned, aligned with AOTF’s strategic objectives.
Education/Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree (Digital Communications, Marketing, Journalism, and/or English) and/or equivalent 3+ years of relevant communications experience covering the breadth of work responsibilities listed above. This is not an entry-level position.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Ability to function independently and proactively.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, manage campaign workflows, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills to effectively interact and collaborate with staff, board members, and volunteers and engage and interact with other community partners.
- Experience with HTML, content management systems.
- Proficient in Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite; Constant Contact, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere,Express, etc.), Canva, and Zoom.
- Sound judgment and confidentiality.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with staff.
Experience Preferred
- Hootsuite, Blackbaud and/or other CRM platforms.
Physical Demands
- Normal demands associated with an office environment.
- Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods.
Working Conditions: This position is a full-time, non-exempt position. Position will be in-person and based at the AOTF headquarters in Rockville, MD. This is NOT a remote position. Position allows for remote work one day per week. May be required to travel and work some evenings and/or weekends. The salary range is $60 - $65K depending on qualifications.
