We are looking for a Newsletter Editor to help elevate our content to new heights and broaden our readership.
Role Description:
We are seeking an innovative Newsletter Editor to join our team part-time. This hybrid role (in-office and remote) will be based in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have a passion for content creation, storytelling, and audience engagement. You’ll be responsible for curating, editing, and designing impactful content while leading efforts to expand our readership, enhance engagement, and create a more robust, visually compelling newsletter experience. You will work closely with the team to implement new content strategies, collaborate with additional content providers, and experiment with creative design to drive readership growth and audience loyalty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation & Editing:
- Curate and edit a diverse range of compelling content that speaks to our audience of hospitality professionals, industry leaders, and tech innovators.
- Stay ahead of trends and keep the newsletter fresh by incorporating innovative story angles, guest features, and industry insights.
- Work with various internal teams to create content that is in line with Branded Hospitality’s overall brand and messaging strategy.
- Engagement Growth & Strategy:
- Identify and implement strategies to grow the newsletter’s readership beyond the current 300K subscribers, including cross-platform promotions, guest contributions, and creative campaigns.
- Experiment with new content formats (video snippets, interactive polls, behind-the-scenes looks at the industry) to engage readers and enhance the reader experience.
- Develop creative ways to incentivize newsletter sign-ups (e.g., exclusive content, industry reports, or special offers from partners).
- Collaboration with Content Providers:
- Cultivate relationships with guest contributors and influencers in the hospitality, tech, and investment spaces to diversify content and bring fresh perspectives to the newsletter.
- Work with industry leaders, thought partners, and other media outlets to feature exclusive interviews, case studies, and thought leadership pieces.
- Design & User Experience Innovation:
- Collaborate with design and marketing teams to reimagine the newsletter’s visual layout, making it more engaging, easy to navigate, and visually appealing.
- Innovate new design elements (e.g., custom graphics, infographics, interactive sections) that align with the content and encourage further interaction.
- Experiment with A/B testing on design elements (e.g., subject lines, graphics, calls to action) to maximize open and click-through rates.
- Monetization & Partnerships:
- Work with the marketing and sales teams to integrate monetization strategies through partnerships, sponsorships, and exclusive collaborations within the newsletter.
- Develop targeted content strategies for sponsors, ensuring that branded content is seamlessly integrated without compromising editorial integrity.
- Identify new partnership opportunities to create value for both readers and sponsors (e.g., co-branded content, special features, sponsored segments).
- Data Analysis & Optimization:
- Track and analyze newsletter performance data (open rates, click rates, conversions, etc.) to optimize content strategy and increase engagement.
- Utilize insights from analytics to refine content and experiment with new ideas that resonate with the audience.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and writing skills, with a creative approach to content development.
- Proven experience in managing newsletters, editorial content, and content strategy.
- A flair for design and an understanding of user experience—ability to transform content into a visually engaging format.
- Knowledge of analytics and optimization tools for newsletters (e.g., A/B testing, email marketing platforms, content management systems).
- Proficiency in proofreading and ensuring content accuracy and quality.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
- Familiarity with the hospitality, food service, or media industries is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
- Prior experience in monetizing newsletters through partnerships, sponsorships, or branded content is a plus.
