ECV invests primarily at the Seed+ / Series A level. The firm leads rounds, takes board seats and is extraordinarily active in supporting its portfolio companies. This support spans all areas that any individual portfolio company may need, E.G. – recruiting, strategy, fund raising, sales, business development, product, finance and team building, in addition to management coaching, mentoring and advising. ECV is also happy to syndicate with other strong investors. The firm is very active promoting and advocating the proliferation of green molecules® innovation across the broader energy industry.
Energy Capital Ventures® is managed by a team of top-performing VCs and leading career long investment bankers from the energy industry. The firm is investing out of its recently closed second fund. 70% of the investment portfolio will be in North America, with an ability to invest up to 30% internationally.

About the Role, Associate
This is not a typical venture capital Associate role. In addition to traditional venture capital responsibilities, this position will have meaningful interaction with our corporate LPs and platform. The candidate for this role:

Specific responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
VENTURE CAPITAL
· Deal sourcing
· Due diligence
· Research and thesis development
· Financial modeling
· Portfolio company support
· Deal execution
· CRM / pipeline management
· Portfolio reporting
· Presentation drafting
· Supporting the General Partners and senior investment professionals
· Venture capital/ private equity network development
· Fund raising support
LP/ PLATTFORM*
· Lead/ draft technology briefings
· Integrate portfolio companies into ECV network
· Develop pilot opportunities
· LP relationship management
· Industry panel participation
· Newsletter drafting
*These responsibilities may subside based on subsequent hires
Location
· Chicago, IL in-office (not virtual, not remote, not WFH)
· Travel required, can be up to 3x/ month
MANDATORY Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of early-stage venture capital work experience, preferably in deep tech
- Technical degree/ demonstrable scientific acumen relevant to green molecules®. EG – engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, geology, material sciences, etc.
- College degree
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding and experience with corporate partnerships
- Experience in the energy industry or utility sector
