Pulp Media is a Detroit-born media company and creative studio built for a culture that craves more. This coming year will see us produce narrative video content, photography, digital storytelling, social media campaigns, cultural guides, live events, and branded series that spotlight Detroit’s people, businesses, and neighborhoods. As we expand our network, platforms, and creative capabilities, we are seeking a high-energy Sales Account Executive to drive revenue across the entire Pulp ecosystem, including selling content creation services, ad placements, sponsorships, and integrated media packages.
Position Overview
The Sales Account Executive will be responsible for generating new business and selling a range of Pulp Media offerings, including:
• Video production & branded content
• Photography & lifestyle shoots
• Social media management & strategy
• Sponsorships for Pulp Originals and Pulp Selects
• Advertising packages across Pulp’s platforms
• Event sponsorships and branded activations
• Creative retainers via Bureau Detroit
This role blends traditional media sales, sponsorship sales, and agency business development. The ideal candidate understands the power of storytelling, creative branding, and multi-platform media—and thrives on building relationships with brands that want to connect with Detroit’s culture and audience.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify, prospect, and secure new clients for Pulp Media and Bureau Detroit.
- Sell integrated creative and media packages, including: Video and photo production, Social media retainers, Sponsored video series and episodes, Branded content and native features, Ad placements, Newsletter features, Print magazine sponsorships, and Event partnerships and on-site activations.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline across hospitality, real estate, retail, automotive, arts/culture, and regional brands.
Account Management & Client Relationships
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing partnerships.
- Understand client objectives and create custom media or content packages to meet their goals.
- Provide follow-up, ongoing communication, and opportunities for upsell or renewal.
- Collaboration & Strategic Input
- Work closely with Pulp’s leadership, editorial, and creative teams to craft pitches and proposals.
- Collaborate with Bureau Detroit’s production team to define scope, timeline, and pricing for creative projects.
- Bring market insights and client feedback to inform new Pulp Media product offerings.
Sponsorship & Media Sales
- Sell sponsorship slots across video series, digital guides, podcasts, and print.
- Develop long-term partnerships with brands seeking visibility in Detroit and cultural alignment.
- Maintain a deep understanding of Pulp’s viewership, audience data, and platform performance to communicate value.
Administrative & Performance
- Maintain CRM accuracy and report weekly on leads, proposals, wins, and forecasts.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
- Prepare presentations, decks, and follow-up materials to support sales efforts.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of experience in sales, media sales, sponsorship sales, advertising, or agency business development.
- Proven track record selling creative services, ad packages, or sponsorships.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, content strategy, and branded storytelling.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with marketing teams, brand managers, and decision-makers.
- Comfort navigating multi-platform offerings and tailoring solutions to client needs.
- Familiarity with CRM tools and sales reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in media sales (digital, print, OTT, podcast, or broadcast).
- Network of contacts within Metro Detroit’s hospitality, retail, real estate, automotive, or lifestyle sectors.
- Background working with or selling into creative agencies or production companies.
- Understanding of sponsorship valuation and integrated campaign development.
- Ability to collaborate with creative directors and production teams to scope projects.

Compensation
- Base salary + commission (OTE dependent on experience level).
- Bonuses for meeting quarterly and annual revenue targets.
