As we continue to scale, we’re hiring a Director of Marketing & Business Development—an ambitious, hands-on leader to design and execute our firmwide growth, marketing, and business development strategy.
Role Overview
The Director of Marketing & Business Development will have a blank slate to shape the firm’s marketing, PR, and business development functions from the ground up. This is a high-impact role suited for someone who thrives in a start-up environment, enjoys autonomy, and is excited to help define how a boutique investment bank grows its brand and client base.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Brand Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan to drive brand awareness and lead generation.
- Develop and distribute newsletter production and thought-leadership content, including firm announcements, deal updates, and industry insights.
- Manage digital presence (website, social media, email campaigns) and branding initiatives to ensure a consistent, professional image.
- Build and manage the firm’s CRM system for marketing automation, pipeline tracking, and client communications.
- Partner with leadership to refine brand messaging, visual identity, and PR strategy.
Business Development & Client Sourcing
- Research and identify prospective clients, referral partners, and industry verticals with high M&A activity.
- Meet regularly with other professionals in the region to further develop the Commonwealth M&A brand.
- Attend conferences, trade shows, and networking events to represent the firm and build relationships with business owners and advisors.
- Develop outreach campaigns and coordinate follow-up processes with the deal team.
Pitch Materials & Marketing Collateral
- Assist in designing and refining pitch decks, one-pagers, and other marketing materials.
- Collaborate with deal professionals to highlight the firm’s track record and market insights in compelling visual formats.
Who You Are
- A strategic, creative, and execution-oriented professional who loves building systems and strategies from scratch.
- Experienced in marketing, business development, or brand strategy — ideally within financial services, private equity, consulting, or professional services.
- Comfortable with autonomy, ambiguity, and wearing many hats.
- A polished communicator who can represent the firm professionally to clients, media, and partners.
- Proficient in CRM platforms (HubSpot, Pipedrive, etc.), content management tools, and presentation software.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or a related growth role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to go above and beyond, roll up the sleeves, and wear multiple hats.
- Proven ability to design and implement marketing systems, processes, and strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (MBA preferred, but not required).
