About the Role
Governor Hochul’s Digital-Creative Team is seeking motivated interns for the Summer 2026 term. This team represents, champions, and manifests the work of the Governor to reach and grow direct relationships with New Yorkers. This role is ideal for students interested in creative communications and public service, offering hands-on experience in how the Governor delivers on policy priorities. Interns will assist in managing official digital channels, maintaining the Governor's visual brand, and producing multimedia content.
Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Draft engaging copy for social media channels and email newsletters; assist in producing graphic, photo, and video assets.
- Strategy & Planning: Assist in managing the social media content calendar and participate in creative brainstorming sessions.
- Event Coverage: Capture photo and video content at Governor events for real-time and future social media use.
- Partner Engagement: Draft sample social media and newsletter copy for external partner toolkits and stakeholder activation.
- Research & Analytics: Support the team with social media research, influencer engagement efforts, and performance reporting.
- Location: This position is in-person and will be based in Buffalo.
Required Skills
- Creative Communication: Strong skillset in one or more areas: copywriting, video production, photography, or graphic design.
- Digital Savvy: Familiarity with social media platforms and digital engagement strategies.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; due to the nature of the role, some morning, evening, or weekend work may be required.
- Collaboration: A willingness to work across teams to translate policy priorities into resonant digital content.
Qualifications
- Residency: Must either be a New York State resident OR be enrolled in a college or university located in New York State.
- Application Requirements: A cover letter and writing sample are required in order to be considered for this position.
- Commitment: Ability to work 20-30 hours per week depending on availability.
