Artforum, the magazine of record for the contemporary art industry, is hiring an Engagement Editor who is responsible for driving and contributing to the breadth of Artforum’s posts and strategy across all social platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, Bluesky, and TikTok, as well as select Artforum newsletters. This role reports to senior members of the editorial team and works with the publishers and digital team members to expand and further optimize social strategies and content.
Candidates should have experience and dexterity with social engagement strategy and familiarity with Artforum as a publication and brand. Previous experience in art environments is preferred.
Requirements and qualifications: Please note that a cover letter and resume are required for consideration. Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in art history, journalism, and/or communications-related fields. Candidates with editorial, social media, and writing experience will be prioritized.

Specific Duties
- Contributes to social engagement strategy
- Manages all social accounts (Facebook, X, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, and others TBD)
- Writes and produces social posts to promote both print and web-native editorial content
- Captures video at galleries, museums, and art events and edits and formats this content for social platforms (basic video editing experience preferred)
- Uploads all Artforum video episodes across social platforms
- Manages the gathering, editing, and posting of exhibition posts (InDesign experience preferred)
- Writes and produces weekly (52/year) “From the Archive” newsletter and uploads to website
- Aggregates social analytics for review and proactively contributes to content strategy informed by engagement
General Duties
- Attends relevant editorial meetings
- Serves as brand ambassador (attending openings, press previews, and Artforum live events as needed)
- Regularly visits galleries, museums, fairs, and other events; captures photo and video from these events for exhibition posts
- Displays proactive work ethic, positive attitude, and flexible working style
- Other duties as assigned
A good faith estimate of the salary range is $66,500 - $70,000 upon hire. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
