Position Overview:
The Communications Coordinator at Jeremiah’s Place (JP) plays a key role in shaping how our mission, stories, and impact are shared with the community. This position coordinates JP’s communications and media—including social media, newsletters, podcasts, video storytelling, and digital engagement—to expand our reach and strengthen relationships with supporters, partners, families, and volunteers.
The Coordinator will coordinate and create multimedia content, design graphics and event materials, coordinate podcast production, write communication pieces such as press releases and website articles, and maintain updates across digital platforms. This role also supports media needs for programs and events, helping to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all outreach efforts. Additionally, the Coordinator will organize and archive JP’s media assets for accessibility and historical preservation.
This position also coordinates JP’s volunteer program, facilitating volunteer opportunities, conducting volunteer outreach, and managing volunteer engagement and tracking to support JP’s programs and events.
Position Responsibilities:
JP’s Communications Coordinator engages in photography, videography, social media management, newsletter development, and other media support tasks, as well as volunteer coordination. The responsibilities are more clearly defined below:
Media Production (Photography, Videography, and Podcasting)
- Capture high-quality photos and videos during JP programs, community outreach events, and special occasions.
- Edit and produce media content for use across social media, newsletters, the website, and event promotions.
- Coordinate, record, and edit episodes of the JP Podcast, including developing topics, scheduling interviews, and managing distribution.
- Conduct and film interviews with families, staff, and partners to highlight JP’s mission and impact.
- Produce event-related media such as recap videos, slideshows, and highlight reels.
Social Media
• Create and manage a comprehensive content calendar across all JP social media platforms.
• Develop engaging daily and weekly posts aligned with JP’s brand voice and mission.
• Track analytics and engagement data to evaluate content performance and inform strategy.
• Engage with followers, partners, and community organizations online to grow awareness and support.
Composition
- Prepare press releases, media advisories, and web stories highlighting JP programs, partnerships, and events.
- Collect, write, and edit impact stories for donor and family newsletters.
- Collaborate with staff to develop talking points, announcements, and key messages for campaigns and special initiatives.
- Assist in creating communications for fundraising campaigns.
Graphic Design
- Design digital and print materials for events, programs, and marketing campaigns (flyers, invitations, signage, etc.).
- Support the creation of branded materials for internal and external communications.
- Produce media and graphics for JP events, including galas, outreach programs, and family events.
Website and Digital Media
- Update and maintain website content to ensure timely posting of news, media, and event information.
- Collaborate on improvements to website layout, navigation, and user experience.
- Ensure all online platforms reflect accurate and consistent branding and messaging.
Media Cataloguing, Organizing, and Archiving
- Develop and maintain a digital media library using standard naming conventions.
- Archive photos, videos, publications, and promotional materials for long-term access and use.
Volunteer Coordination
- Coordinate volunteer opportunities that support JP programs, events, and organizational needs.
- Facilitate volunteer scheduling and placement in collaboration with program and development staff.
- Conduct volunteer outreach to recruit individuals, corporate groups, and community partners.
- Maintain communication with volunteers regarding opportunities, schedules, and organizational updates.
- Track volunteer participation and engagement using Bloomerang Volunteer.
- Support volunteer recognition efforts and help ensure a positive volunteer experience.
Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with social media management, photography, and/or video editing required.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools.
- Passion for the mission of Jeremiah’s Place and commitment to supporting families in crisis.
Requirements:
- Clearances, including PA Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (Criminal History), Federal Criminal History (FBI Fingerprint), and National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR)
- Physical and TB test
Compensation:
$48,000-$55,000 per year
