Position Focus
Yale School of Nursing seeks a dynamic, self-motivated individual with expertise in digital design and website administration. Under the direction of the Associate Dean and Interim Director of Marketing & Communications and in close partnership with the Assistant Director of Marcomm, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the School’s website (nursing.yale.edu), as well as other digital design projects, working closely with the communications and IT teams to maintain site standards and compliance with Yale University’s open-access and accessibility policies.
This person will be responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and publishing of all web content and dissemination of digital messages. They will troubleshoot and address display issues as they arise using basic HTML, CSS, and content management tools. This position also monitors web traffic and is responsible for creating reports for senior leadership that identify patterns and content strengths and weaknesses that will in turn drive content decisions. Yale School of Nursing will be engaging in a website overhaul, and this position will, in consultation with the above personnel, lead the decision-making processes regarding refinements to the website and its functionalities. The ideal candidate is technologically savvy, highly collaborative, has a keen design sense, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality static graphics for digital and print platforms, aligned with brand guidelines.
- Create visual assets for marketing campaigns, social media, newsletters, and institutional communications.
- Support website content updates, layout adjustments, and visual improvements (e.g., updating images, adding new sections, improving UI consistency).
- Collaborate with communications, marketing, and academic teams to understand project goals and deliver creative design solutions.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Prepare files for print and digital distribution, ensuring accuracy and proper formatting.
- Maintain the organization’s digital asset library and ensure consistent application of graphic standards.

Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Experience with basic photo editing and retouching; familiarity with video editing is a plus.
- Understanding of web content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, or similar) for routine updates.
- Ability to adapt design concepts to various platforms, formats, and audiences.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital content. Illustration or animation skills are a bonus but not required.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with shifting priorities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Brand & Communications Strategy. Develops and executes public relations strategy, output, and performance for the department with the goal of increasing media impressions in local, national, industry-specific and alumni media. Creates communications strategy to showcase top technologies available for license. Ensures consistent look and tone for all department communications, including written content, website and social media. 2. Media Relations. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with media representatives. Identifies opportunities to work with other the departments, university publications and the Office of Public Affairs to develop and publicize stories. 3. Content Creation. Assesses the University faculty inventions and student startups for newsworthiness and create compelling news and public relations content. Creates engaging, dynamic content for the public, including press releases, blog articles, website updates, newsletter articles and social media. 4. Outreach. Manages delivery channels for newsworthy content, including updating and maintaining the department websites, social media accounts, and articles for email newsletters, and creating video, print, and on-campus events. Creates websites that embed existing content from Yale and external sites (publications related to the technology, videos featuring inventor, profile on Yale Bulletin and Calendar innovators webpage). 5. Other. Seeks out, negotiates with and recommends external organizations that can provide services that optimize both the cost and functionality of the new communications strategy. Ensures that all communications conform to the University guidelines. Hires student workers as needed to assist in producing copy. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of experience in website design, production, marketing, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
