Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Manager is a key member of the Recreation Centers of Sun City (RCSC) leadership team, responsible for driving the organization’s marketing, communications, and public relations strategy while elevating the Sun City Welcome Center experience. This role champions the RCSC mission, vision, and values through high-impact storytelling, brand stewardship, and competitive community positioning.
Through passionate, mission-driven marketing and communications, this role increases the attractiveness of RCSC and Sun City as a vibrant, welcoming, and active lifestyle destination.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive strategic communications that increase awareness, engagement, and positive perception of RCSC across internal and external audiences.
- Develop, implement, and refine department policies, procedures, and best practices for marketing, communications, and social media governance.
- Champion brand consistency by shaping messaging, tone, visual identity, and storytelling across all platforms and communications.
- Strengthen competitive marketing positioning by researching trends, and statistics to guide campaign direction and messaging.
- Drive the design and production of advertisements, print collateral, newsletters, digital graphics, web pages, and social media content.
- Cultivate and expand relationships with community media outlets, marketing partners, RCSC clubs, and local organizations to amplify visibility and engagement.
- Serve as the primary media liaison, responding to inquiries with professionalism, clarity, and polished public-facing communication.
- Elevate the strategy, operations, and experience of the Sun City Welcome Center (SCWC), ensuring it reflects the pride, hospitality, and energy of the community.
- Build, train, and inspire a high-performing SCWC team, including assistants and volunteers, while fostering a welcoming and service-driven culture.
- Execute additional responsibilities as needed to advance RCSC initiatives and organizational priorities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, web design, and/or social media strategy.
Experience in a non-profit and/or active adult community environment is strongly preferred.
Highly proficient with website development tools, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and Mailchimp (or comparable email marketing platforms).
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong communicator with the ability to speak clearly, confidently, and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations.
- Skilled at building trust and credibility with leadership, Board members, and external partners.
- Excellent writing/editing skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing, communications, and public relations plans for internal and external audiences.
- Working knowledge of newsletter publishing, digital engagement best practices, and search engine optimization (SEO).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to plan daily workloads independently.
- High level of accountability, initiative, dependability, creativity, and attention to detail.
