Bel Inizio, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas, empowers women facing challenging life circumstances to build self-confidence and life skills through fitness, nutrition, and goal setting. Participants, ranging from their 20s to their 60s, train to complete a 5K, which serves as a metaphor for their journey toward achieving personal and professional goals. These women, often overcoming challenges such as substance abuse, homelessness, or trauma, gain the tools needed to succeed and re-enter the community stronger. Bel Inizio provides practical support to foster healthy habits and long-term positive outcomes, showing participants they are valued and capable.
Position Summary
The Communications & Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Bel Inizio’s mission by supporting fundraising, donor engagement, communications, and special events. This role focuses on execution and coordination, while the Executive Director leads major donor outreach and overall fundraising strategy.
This position strengthens donor relationships, supports revenue growth efforts, manages events and sponsorship logistics, and ensures consistent, mission-driven communications across all platforms. The coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, board members, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners to ensure Bel Inizio maintains an organized, engaging, and professional presence.
Flexible hours are required, including occasional evenings and weekends around fundraising and community events.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Support & Donor Care
- Partner with the Executive Director to implement the annual Donor Engagement Plan focused on cultivation, stewardship, and relationship strengthening.
- Support donor cultivation strategies that deepen relationships with current donors and expand Bel Inizio’s donor base.
- Identify opportunities to re-engage lapsed donors through consistent, intentional communication.
- Assist with donor follow-up and stewardship activities.
- Oversee timely donor acknowledgments and recognition.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely donor records in Little Green Light, including interactions, meeting notes, and donor history.
- Generate regular reports to support campaign tracking, fundraising analysis, and board reporting.
- Assist in coordinating donor meetings, preparing background materials, and documenting follow-up actions.
- Support execution of digital, email, and event-based fundraising campaigns.
- Coordinate aspects of third-party fundraising support as needed.
Events & Sponsorship Support
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, community outreach programs, and special gatherings.
- Manage event logistics including venue coordination, catering, vendor communication, contracts, timelines, and committee support.
- Track event budgets and assist with financial tracking and reporting.
- Coordinate sponsorship outreach follow-up and ensure sponsor fulfillment and recognition.
- Lead event host committees, including scheduling meetings, setting agendas, documenting notes, and managing follow-up.
- Ensure all event revenue, attendance, sponsorship, and donor data is entered accurately into the CRM.
- Track, evaluate, and document event outcomes to identify best practices for future events.
- Provide exceptional guest support during events.
- Attend and support all fundraising and community events, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
Communications Execution
- Build and maintain an annual communications calendar aligned with fundraising events and donor engagement efforts.
- Produce and distribute the monthly Bel Inizio newsletter and related email communications.
- Create and manage mission-driven content for social media platforms and digital campaigns.
- Coordinate event-related marketing including save-the-dates, invitations, press releases, programs, and promotional materials.
- Support development of donor appeals and impact updates in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Oversee website updates and ensure content remains current, visually consistent, and aligned with organizational goals.
- Maintain inventory of event and marketing materials.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- Donor acknowledgments sent within 48 hours and stewardship touches consistently tracked.
- Monthly newsletters distributed on schedule with strong engagement.
- Donor records maintained with high accuracy and board reports delivered on time.
- Fundraising events executed smoothly, on time, and within approved budgets.
- Sponsorship outreach and fulfillment tracked and completed per agreement.
- Event and donor data entered into the CRM within established timelines.
- Organized, professional event execution and clear post-event reporting.
- Lapsed donor outreach documented annually.
- A strengthened stewardship cadence that supports incremental revenue growth.
Qualifications
- Passion for Bel Inizio’s mission and commitment to empowering women.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with event planning, fundraising support, donor engagement, or nonprofit communications preferred.
- Comfort with CRM systems (Little Green Light preferred) and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
- Ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.
- Detail-oriented, collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused.
