The The B.R.A.V.E. Project™ is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth in underserved communities through education, mentorship, and community engagement. Through our BRAVE Mentorship Model™, we provide programs focused on STEM education, literacy, health and wellness, financial literacy, and leadership development.
Our mission is to equip youth—especially those in Title I schools—with the tools, mentorship, and resources needed to overcome adversity and reach their full potential.
Board Member Role – Philanthropic Partnerships Officer
As a Board Member & Philanthropic Partnerships Officer with The B.R.A.V.E. Project™, you will play a critical leadership role in expanding the organization’s philanthropic network and securing financial and in-kind donations to support our programs.
This position is ideal for a highly outgoing, persuasive individual with strong relationship-building skills and the “gift of gab.” The ideal candidate is comfortable initiating conversations with executives, corporate leaders, foundations, and community partners and can effectively communicate the impact and mission of The B.R.A.V.E. Project™.
This officer will serve on the Board of Directors and will work closely with the Fundraising Officer, Grant Officer, Finance Officer, Public Advocacy Officer, and Website Officer to strengthen the organization’s sponsorship and donor pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and cultivate new sponsors including local, regional, and national businesses that align with the mission of The B.R.A.V.E. Project™
• Secure financial and in-kind donations from corporations, foundations, and community partners
• Research and outreach to potential donors using Candid, leveraging the organization’s one-year membership to identify foundations, corporate donors, and philanthropic organizations
• Act with urgency and initiative when researching opportunities through Candid, recognizing that the membership is time-limited
• Maintain relationships with existing Community Sponsors, particularly those listed here:

• Communicate regularly with current sponsors to thank them, share program updates, and encourage continued support
• Work closely with the Fundraising Officer to support broader fundraising initiatives and ensure alignment with the organization’s fundraising strategy
• Collaborate with the Grant Officer to identify sponsorship opportunities that complement grant funding
• Collaborate with the Public Advocacy Officer to strengthen community relationships and increase visibility of sponsorship partnerships
• Coordinate with the Finance Officer to ensure all donations are properly documented and processed via check, EFT, or online donations
• Work proactively with the Website Officer if improvements to the Donations Page or sponsor categories are needed to clarify donation opportunities
• Draft short articles and highlights for the BRAVE Newsletter recognizing sponsors, highlighting donor impact, and encouraging additional community donations
• Maintain ongoing communication with sponsors and donors, ensuring they feel valued and informed about how their support is making a difference
Performance Expectations
This role requires a high-performing and proactive individual who can independently secure sponsorships and donations.
• The Philanthropic Partnerships Officer must demonstrate the ability to raise at least $5,000 within the first three (3) months of accepting the role
• If this benchmark is not met, the organization may reassess or release the individual from this board position
• This role is intended for a highly motivated individual capable of producing measurable sponsorship results

Strategic Collaboration
The Philanthropic Partnerships Officer will work closely with:
• Fundraising Officer – to support ongoing fundraising initiatives and campaigns
• Grant Officer – to align sponsorship outreach with grant opportunities
• Finance Officer – to ensure accurate processing and tracking of donations
• Public Advocacy Officer – to strengthen community engagement and advocacy efforts
• Website Officer – to improve online sponsorship and donation pathways
• Communications Team – to highlight donors and sponsors through newsletters and digital channels
Board Participation
As a member of the Board of Directors, this officer will:
• Participate in regular board meetings and strategic planning discussions
• Provide updates and report progress during Board Meetings regarding sponsor outreach, partnerships, and donations secured
• Advocate for The B.R.A.V.E. Project™ within their professional and community networks
• Help expand the organization’s corporate sponsorship base
• Mentor at least one College Intern / Assistant Board Member, helping them gain experience in nonprofit development, outreach, and partnership building

• Has the gift of gab and exceptional persuasive communication skills
• Is comfortable approaching executives, business owners, and corporate leaders
• Has strong sales, fundraising, marketing, outreach, or business development experience
• Is highly proactive and results-driven
• Can confidently sell the mission and impact of The B.R.A.V.E. Project™
• Takes initiative and does not require constant direction
• Is passionate about supporting youth in underserved communities
