Business Assistant - Logos Academy
Who are we?
Serving over 220 students in grades K-12, Logos Academy is an accredited, independent school dedicated to providing transformative urban education. Located in York, one of Pennsylvania’s lowest performing public-school districts, we are committed to closing the achievement gap for students in poverty while remaining affordable through substantial scholarships. Two-thirds of our students live at or near the federal poverty line and attend Logos on generous scholarships.
Who are we looking for?
The Business Assistant is very organized and enjoys handling a variety of priorities. This position supports most areas of the back office and is integral to the inner workings of the organization. The qualified candidate will be able to work independently and collaborate with other departments. We are looking for someone who is a self starter, shows confidence, a proactive problem solver and maintains strict confidentiality. What the job involves
In the role of Business Assistant, you will play a critical role in executing a variety of administrative responsibilities related to Financial Business Operations, Human Resources, and the Front Office, in addition to supporting some School Wide needs.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
Financial Business Operations Support
- Preparing, recording and paying invoices; check printing and credit card reconciliations; processing staff lunch charges; and assisting with the rental process.
- Verifying invoices received for benefits, assisting with employee benefits through the annual renewal process and communication with brokers, and making retirement plan deposits.
- Distributing mail, assisting with creating staff emails; assisting with accounts payable filing; and ordering office supplies.
Human Resources Support
- Recruitment: Advertising employment opportunities; processing applications and corresponding with applicants; scheduling interviews; and preparing employment correspondence.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Scheduling onboarding, observations, and sample teaching lessons; and assisting in the onboarding and offboarding of employees and volunteers; creating staff care cards for digital signature.
- Personnel Records: Maintaining personnel files; maintaining and tracking clearances.
- Benefits and Time Off: Maintaining and coordinating retirement plan records and correspondence; processing PTO reports; updating the master calendar; and checking the substitute list.
- Payroll: Assisting with semi-monthly processing of payroll.
- Miscellaneous: Performing a variety of other administrative duties related to performance assessments; staff recognition; the Employee Handbook; and other policy/form updates.
Front Office Team Support
- Providing coverage at the front desk and attending student health needs.
School Wide Support
- Distributing the staff newsletter.
- Managing minimal website updates and compiling analytics.
- Creating and managing student emails.
- Updating school signage and maps as needed.

- Proficient typing and editing skills. Strong writing ability given basic guidelines.
- Ability to serve a diverse audience, including board members, staff, students, families, donors, contractors, and vendors.
- Strong commitment to the Christian faith as articulated by the Apostles and Nicene Creeds as well as regular attendance, fellowship, and accountability within a community of believers.
- Living to the best of one’s ability to the community rule of life outlined in the Logos Academy Employee Handbook.
- Three years administrative assistant or similar experience required.
- Excellent calendar, email, word processing, spreadsheet and online computing skills using Google.
- ADP Payroll and Quickbooks experience preferred.
Pay: $18-$20 per hour, depending on experience
