The Role
The Corporate Marketing team is responsible for growing the Blue Owl brand and supporting the firm in its ambition to be one of the preeminent firms in the asset management industry. Our goal is to raise the firm’s visibility by using our global marketing and communications platform to support our firm, its publicly-traded vehicles, and its sales and client marketing efforts. The Head of Internal Communications will develop and implement internal communications strategies, plans, tactics, and materials for our global team and organization. The role involves owning the end-to-end execution of internal content, acting as both the project manager and the creative lead responsible for concepting, writing, and shaping each piece, ensuring a high standard of visual and verbal storytelling. The role will entail managing high-visibility projects, the internal content calendar, workflows, reviews, and approvals—serving as the point person to bring internal communications to life across channels, including our intranet, email, video, internal events, and other written collateral. This person will work in collaboration with the broader HR, Marketing, Brand, Communications, Sales, Investment, and IT teams to deliver consistent messaging across the organization. This role requires a candidate who can establish and strengthen connections across the firm, work closely with and influence senior leadership, and drive effective communication to employees. To be successful, the individual must be proactive, think strategically and creatively, and then execute tactically.
This is a high-impact role within an entrepreneurial firm, reporting to the Head of Corporate Marketing. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a collaborative team player, and does not need a roadmap to deliver impact.
Responsibilities
- Recommend and develop creative content and materials that drive employee awareness, engagement, and executive visibility
- Empower employees to bring the company’s vision, strategic priorities, and culture to the work they do every day
- Support the business and drive firm messages, working closely with the other functional areas within the firm
- Partner with the broader Marketing and Corporate Communications team to ensure that all internal communications are aligned with external communications and marketing efforts
- Work with HR and IT teams to manage, maintain and regularly update internal communications digital platforms and systems
- Create briefing materials and prepare executives and business leaders with messages to ensure effective and consistent message delivery
- Partner with HR and Brand teams to shape and enhance the employee experience and employer brand
- Partner with HR, Social, and Marketing teams to amplify and communicate our culture externally in compelling ways to current and prospective employees, supporting retention and recruitment efforts
- Develop new methods to obtain employee feedback and utilize feedback to help shape communications plans and strategies
- Develop and monitor metrics to measure reach and impact of communications and to identify areas of success and opportunity
- Stay up-to-date on industry and market trends to ensure platforms stay optimized and identify original and compelling themes to incorporate into communications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 8 years of experience required, preferably in internal communications, executive communications within Financial Services. Additional experience in Marketing communications a plus.
- Creative and versatile professional with experience in the development and implementation of integrated communications
- Strong knowledge of communications channels and how to leverage communications across a wide range of channels to extend reach and impact
- Excellent writing and content creation skills required (i.e., ability to produce clear, compelling, motivating communications quickly) across a wide range of styles and tones and for multiple channels
- Must possess the ability to think strategically and execute tactically, acquiring business acumen quickly and easily
- Strong project management skills needed. Must be able to successfully manage multiple complex projects independently and with a sense of urgency.
- Strong record of success and experience in leading and advising senior and executive required
- Ability to work with highly confidential materials across a wide spectrum of constituencies
- Experience with: Staffbase and Staffbase Email or a similar SaaS platform and email newsletter software; Canva or a similar design platform and comfortable creating visually compelling communications; partnering on scriptwriting and/or executive preparations for high-visibility, internally-facing video projects
- Works effectively in a lean, high-impact team environment; proactively offers support, partners well across functions, steps up to help wherever needed, and contributes to collective wins
The base annual salary range for this New York-based position will be $160,000 to $180,000. Actual salary offered will be based on the candidate’s skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
