About the Role
The Competitive Enterprise Institute seeks a Digital Marketing Associate to play a central role in executing and strengthening CEI’s digital presence. This position will support the Director of Digital Marketing and the communications team to translate CEI’s policy work into clear, engaging content across social media, email, web, and paid campaigns. The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical, with strong writing skills and the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
This is a hands-on role with meaningful responsibility. You will help shape how CEI communicates its ideas to a national audience and contribute to major campaigns tied to current policy issues. Over time, this role will offer increasing ownership of digital campaigns and strategy, with the opportunity to take the lead on key initiatives as you grow in the role.
We are looking for someone with 2+ years of experience who is ready to grow beyond purely execution-focused work. This role is based in CEI’s headquarters in Washington, DC.
This position has a salary range of $55,000-$75,000, commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

Primary Responsibilities
Digital Content & Distribution
- Manage and execute CEI’s daily social media presence across X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram
- Schedule and optimize content using Sprout Social
- Collaborate with internal teams to translate policy work into engaging, platform-specific content
- Draft and produce CEI’s weekly email newsletter, including staging and deployment in Salesforce
- Publish and manage content on CEI.org, including articles, press releases, and legal materials
- Support video and podcast production efforts as needed
Campaigns & Audience Growth
- Support and execute digital campaigns across social, email, and paid media, with increasing ownership over time
- Manage and optimize paid advertising campaigns on Meta, X, and Google Ads, including testing, performance tracking, and ongoing optimization
- Contribute ideas to improve messaging, performance, and audience growth across platforms
- Track and report on performance metrics, contributing to weekly analytics reports
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or content creation
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas
- Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing, placing ads, and digital analytics
- Experience or interest in paid digital advertising (Meta, Google, X)
- Experience with tools such as Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Salesforce, or similar platforms
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to travel up to 5%
