The Associate, Business Communications will support internal communications for TVA’s Nuclear Communications and Business Communications teams. This Chattanooga-based role is ideal for someone who enjoys writing and wants hands-on experience developing content and communication plans under the guidance of senior consultants and business leaders. You will work on project-based assignments across operations, safety, while having strong growth opportunities, exposure to leadership and the chance to build skills across multiple communication channels.
POSITION PURPOSE
Write and deliver communication products for TVA that educate, inform and engage employees, retirees and other stakeholder groups, and ultimately enhance TVA’s reputation. Identify opportunities to deliver messaging through a variety of channels. Develop clear and consistent products that resonate clearly with executives, employees, retirees, and targeted external stakeholders. Supports content needs across all communications and marketing teams.

Principal Accountabilities
- Writes and edits content for various TVA channels.
- Develops clear, concise and consistent messaging that builds awareness, understanding, education and action.
- Works with Communications team to develop and/or update communications strategies and tactics.
- Ensures messaging is understandable and relevant to the audience to which it’s being delivered, building understanding and advocacy on behalf of the company, its people, products, services and values.
- Uses available technology appropriate to audiences as messaging is developed.
- Maintains an understanding of business unit goals, programs, issues, and industry trends.
- Utilizes measurement tools to ensure objectives are achieved and results are delivered.
- Utilizes project management and organizational skills in order to deliver effective and timely results.
- Prepares talking points, key messages, employee communications, social media messages, employee newsletter content, video scripts, Power Point presentations, speeches, web content, white papers and background data.
- Research, benchmark information, or collect feedback and prepare summaries to support research analysis efforts
- Collaborates across communications and marketing and TVA teams to develop innovative content across all channels.
- Collaborates and coordinates with colleagues to promote best practices, idea sharing and success for all communications initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a comparable related field.
Experience – Prior experience in the communications field working in a business setting is preferred.
Certification/License, etc — N/A
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Knowledge of communications practices and tools; strong written and verbal communication skills; professional presence and ability to build and sustain professional relationships; skills in current communications technology; self-starter, driven, and able to work at a high pace. Good organizational and project management skills. Proficient in web, social media, Microsoft Office, Adobe and other core technology. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions
