About Sonia
We’re on a mission to make high-quality emotional support available to everyone.
Sonia is a purpose-built AI for emotional support and life coaching. We are building a voice-first consumer product that helps people talk through what is on their mind and build a relationship with an AI that remembers them over time.
We are a lean team in San Francisco, backed by Y Combinator and other great investors, founders, and operators. We move quickly, use AI tools aggressively, and care a lot about the details of what we are building.
The role
We are hiring multiple Consumer Growth Engineering Interns to help build Sonia’s consumer growth engine.
This role sits between growth, content, creator operations, community, partnerships, product, and lightweight engineering. You’ll help us run scrappy experiments across social platforms, creator channels, community partnerships, App Store optimization, referrals, onboarding, and AI-powered growth systems.
You do not need to be a traditional software engineer, but you should be technical enough to use AI tools, automation, no-code tools, scripts, dashboards, agents, and whatever else helps you move faster. The core question is: can you take an ambiguous growth idea and turn it into something live in the world?
What you’ll work on
- Create and repurpose short-form content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and other channels.
- Source and manage creators, affiliates, community partners, and potential Sonia ambassadors.
- Improve Sonia’s App Store presence, including screenshots, keywords, reviews, competitor pages, and conversion ideas.
- Build outreach systems for partnerships with communities, newsletters, events, groups, creators, and relevant organizations.
- Prototype growth ideas and AI workflows: referral loops, tracking links, lead lists, dashboards, content systems, scripts, and automations.
What we’ll give you
You will be AI-native from day one. We will give you access to the tools you need to move fast: Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, AI research agents, image/video tools, scraping and search tools, analytics tools, marketing agents, and any reasonable workflow software that helps you execute.
The expectation is not that you manually grind through tasks. The expectation is that you build systems and repeatable workflows that make the work faster every week.
Who we are looking for
We care less about credentials and more about evidence that you can ship, distribute, learn quickly, and use AI to do unusually high-output work.
You might be a great fit if you have grown a social account, built a community, shipped a side project, organized events, run a newsletter, made content people actually watched, built useful automations, or found some other way to get people to notice something you made.
You should have strong writing instincts, good taste, internet fluency, high follow-through, and comfort reaching out to creators, partners, communities, and users. Coding is a plus, but agency and distribution instincts matter more.
Culture and logistics
- We work hard and are thoughtful about what we build
- Sonia is a product people may use when they feel vulnerable, stuck, overwhelmed, or alone with their thoughts, so trust and language matter.
- Our center of gravity is our office in San Francisco.
- Meals and office benefits included
- Ideally, this internship is in person in SF, but we are open to exceptional remote candidates.
- Summer 2026 is ideal, full-time is preferred, and part-time or project-based arrangements can work for the right person.
- $5k/month base salary + performance bonus
How to apply
Send us the most impressive distribution work you have: a social account, community, newsletter, website, side project, creator partnership, event, campaign, tool, bot, or anything else that shows you can make people notice, join, share, install, subscribe, show up, or care.
Also include when you are available, whether you want to work full-time / part-time / project-based, whether you can be in San Francisco, and what you would try in your first two weeks growing Sonia.
