Temple Beth Sholom – San Leandro, CA Status: Full-Time (35–40 Hours/Week)
Compensation: $28.00 – $33.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience)

About the Role
Temple Beth Sholom is a vibrant, growing congregation seeking a proactive and organized Operations & Engagement Coordinator. This isn't just an office job; you are the "engine" that keeps our community running and the "warm face" that makes members feel at home.
This role is a unique hybrid: you will balance the technical precision of database management and financial billing with the creative energy of event curation and community outreach.
Core Responsibilities
1. Operations & Financial Administration
- Systems Management: Serve as the primary administrator for our member database (CRM/ShulCloud); maintain accurate records for families, yahrzeits, and lifecycle events.
- Financial Flow: Manage member billing cycles, process donations, and provide basic financial reporting to the Executive Director.
- Office Management: Oversee purchasing for office and ritual supplies; manage vendor relationships (janitorial, utilities, etc.); and handle primary phone/reception duties.
2. Event Coordination & Curation
· Logistics: Track event registrations and manage the logistical needs for Shabbat, holidays, and special programs.
· Curation: Elevate the community experience by coordinating food/catering, thoughtful space decoration, and ensuring all ritual items are prepared and in place.
· Calendar Oversight: Maintain the master community calendar (online and internal) to ensure seamless scheduling across all departments.
3. Communications & Digital Engagement
· Web & Social: Perform regular updates to the temple website and manage our social media presence to highlight community life.
· Outreach: Coordinate the weekly email newsletter and digital announcements.
4. Volunteer Liaison
· Connection: Act as the main point of contact for members looking to get involved.
· Coordination: Recruit and organize volunteers for specific programs and events, ensuring they have the information they need to succeed.
Qualifications
· Education: AA or BA in Business, Economics, Communications, or a related field.
· Experience: 2+ years in an administrative or coordination role. Experience in a non-profit, congregational, or Jewish community settings is a significant plus.
· Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Strong Excel skills required) and Google Workspace. Experience with CRMs is essential.
- Cultural Curiosity: While knowledge of Jewish customs is a plus, we prioritize a candidate who is eager to learn and integrate into the unique rhythms of Jewish communal life.
- Professional Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive member information with empathy and total confidentiality.
