Description
Coordinates communications activities in support of a university program, including, but not limited to, publications, newsletters, annual reports, web site, and informational and solicitation materials.
- Coordinates various communications projects, to include compiling, editing, and layout of materials.
- Works with other departments to research, obtain material and organize the content of written communications.
- Provides content for regular updates of the program web site.
- May be responsible for producing regularly recurring communications such as annual reports, monthly publications or newsletters.
- Provides writing and editing services for other communication projects as assigned.
- Represents the program at conferences and community events.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Additional Job Information
The Communications Coordinator for Web & Digital Communications serves as the College of Education's primary website coordinator, supporting digital marketing efforts across the website, social media and email. The ideal candidate has experience using a content management system, an understanding of digital marketing, user experience and analytics, and the organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Position Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary coordinator for the College website, creating, updating and maintaining content through the University’s content management system.
- Collaborates with the communications team, faculty and staff to develop, edit and publish website content that supports student recruitment, brand awareness and other College priorities.
- Evaluates website content, user experience and performance using analytics, SEO and emerging AI search optimization best practices to recommend and implement improvements.
- Designs, proofreads and publishes email communications, including newsletters, event invitations and other messages, using University-approved email marketing platforms.
- Develops social media content ideas, creates posts, publishes across the College’s social media channels, and monitors analytics to optimize performance.
- Assists with writing and editing content for the College website, email communications, social media and other marketing materials.
- Works with the communications team to support College events through planning, preparation and event execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using a content management system (Modern Campus CMS preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms
- Experience with email marketing and social media management platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Photoshop
- Experience creating short-form video content for digital and social media platforms
- Strong organizational, project management and communication skills

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
