The Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) is looking for a high-energy, focused individual for its communications work. The ideal candidate will be eager to serve the members of a premier state-wide non-profit trade association through their ability to impactfully inform and engage members, the media, and others on behalf of WBA and all its subsidiaries. Limited travel and overnights required.
Communications Coordinator Essential Duties:
- Create informative and timely written member content in a wide variety of mediums, including digital & print publications, video, and website management for WBA and its subsidiaries.
- Plan and direct the Association's regular internal and external written communications and earned media efforts. This includes preparing press releases, talking points, etc.
- Serve as a writer and editor for all WBA publications to guarantee all content is accurate, publication-ready, and published in a timely manner.
- Work with WBA’s advocacy, education, and member services areas on consistent messaging and brand awareness for public policy, trade conferences, and other projects.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with journalists and media outlets, as well as the communications staff at larger member institutions.
- Prepare detailed communications/media activity reports for boards, committees and management staff.
- Provide communications and other support, including financial literacy project management work and website support, to the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Bankers Foundation.
- Provide communications support to WBA subsidiaries.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
Requirements:
- Strong communication, writing, editing, and presentation skills; knowledge of AP Stylebook
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to craft a message and generate earned media
- Ability to learn software; strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Teams
- Knowledge of and proficiency in various software including Adobe InDesign, WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite, and Mailchimp
- Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, journalism, writing, or similar field
In addition, the ideal candidate would have the following attributes:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro
- Enjoys managing varying responsibilities and multi-tasking
- Strong relationship-building skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, twist, stand, and/or sit for an extended period.
