Role Description
This is a part-time Technical Marketing Specialist role, offering approximately 15–25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The position is fully remote, with a hybrid option available from the Irvine, CA office, and and is compensated at an hourly rate of $40–$55, commensurate with experience. The Technical Marketing & Content Specialist keeps Fixstars' content engine running by reviewing and editing technical content, coordinating with engineers and external contributors, and supporting day-to-day marketing operations. Daily responsibilities include reviewing and editing technical blog posts, case studies, and whitepapers for accuracy, clarity, and consistency with the style guide; coordinating content production across in-house engineers and external writers; drafting and publishing content across the blog, newsletter, and social channels; and supporting webinars, events, and campaign execution as needed. The specialist will also maintain the content calendar and report on content performance. This role is ideal for someone with a technical background — a former engineer, technical writer, or developer-marketer — who enjoys making complex topics clear and accurate, and who is comfortable working independently in a part-time, remote arrangement.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess solid technical literacy, including the ability to read and evaluate content on topics such as software development, GPU/accelerated computing, or quantum computing (expertise in all areas is not required).
- Candidates should possess excellent Writing and Editing skills in English, with the ability to make complex technical topics clear, accurate, and consistent with a defined style guide.
- Candidates should possess Content Coordination skills, including the ability to manage content production with in-house engineers and external contributors and to maintain a content calendar.
- Candidates should possess Content Operations skills, including drafting and publishing across blog, newsletter, and social channels, and supporting webinars, events, and campaigns.
- Candidates should possess Analytical skills to report on content performance and make data-informed improvements.
- Candidates should have 2+ years of experience in technical writing, developer marketing, content marketing, or a similar role, and be self-directed and comfortable working independently in a part-time, remote arrangement.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include hands-on engineering or programming experience; experience in B2B technology marketing; familiarity with HubSpot, SEO, CMS tools, and marketing analytics; and bilingual Japanese/English ability.
- A STEM degree is required, and a degree in computer science is preferred.
