About the Role
The purpose of this position is to assist MNHS Press staff by performing administrative and support tasks to aid in marketing, sales, and publicity for MNHS Press products.
STATUS & HOURS: Regular full-time, M-F schedule is 8 AM- 5 PM. Possibility for hybrid work from home one to two days a week.

Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support by coordinating the distribution of companion books and Minnesota History. Schedule meetings, offer technical support, serve as the primary contact for non-editorial author inquiries, manage the general press email and calendar meetings, submit publications for copyright registration, and screen manuscript proposals and submissions using FileMaker;
- Provide sales support and assist with communication and updates for sales representatives. Create and format sales e-newsletters, process sales orders, and maintain title data in Coresource;
- Responsible for marketing and publicity support, including creating and scheduling social media posts, managing e-galleys and publicity materials, updating the MNHS Press website, and assisting with media pitches and event registrations;
- Provide royalty process support by entering contract information and sales data into Virtusales, handling address updates, and assisting with royalty statements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/ experience.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, and Google Forms) and Microsoft Office suite (Windows, Word, Excel).
- Demonstrated sales or retail experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing, including printed pieces and online content.
- Facility with data and databases.
- Ability to conduct research.
- Demonstrated positive customer service skills.
- Experience managing a departmental budget, processing requisitions, and coordinating with accounting staff preferred.
- Experience managing projects and working with deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and to handle confidential information discreetly and appropriately.
- Interest in book publishing.
Required Skills
- Experience with book publishing.
- Knowledge of current publishing industry practices and trends.
- Database / CRM experience (FileMaker, Coresource, HubSpot, Asana).
- Design experience (Canva, InDesign).
