What You’ll Do
- Support the development and execution of a comprehensive content strategy across earned, owned and paid media that advances the university’s goals.
- Write, edit and proof high-quality content for DMU’s targeted audiences across multiple channels, including websites, social media, email, donor narratives, news media, print materials, advertising campaigns, videos and multimedia presentations.
- Collaborate with faculty, clinicians and other subject-matter experts to produce accurate and engaging content related to medicine and health sciences education, research, alumni and community engagement, philanthropy and the Des Moines University Clinic.
- Serve as the primary communications liaison for designated programs and departments, ensuring their unique stories are told effectively. Areas may include admissions, student affairs, university advancement, research and the clinic.
- Partner with marketing team members to manage the content calendar and production workflow to guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality, on-brand materials.
- Ensure all content aligns with DMU brand standards and is consistent in voice, tone, quality and style, while applying content marketing and SEO best practices to optimize search, accessibility, user experience, visibility and reach.
- Develop and edit a wide range of materials, including presentations, newsletters, news releases, faculty and student features, patient testimonials, magazine stories, website content and video scripts.
- Provide content and marketing support for high-visibility events and community outreach projects and assist the director with media inquiries and coordinate responses as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Marketing and Communications department.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in content writing, editing, marketing or similar roles. Experience in higher education, health care or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create engaging content across multiple formats and audiences.
- Strong project management, communication and digital marketing skills, including experience with CMS platforms, social media tools, SEO, analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and MS Office.
- Commitment to and alignment with DMU's mission and values, with an understanding of cultural sensitivity and awareness in content creation.

Total Rewards
The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,000-$67,470, commensurate with experience. Placement within the range will depend on experience, qualifications, and alignment with role requirements.
