NFR Communications, a regional publisher with a strong lineup of print and digital publications and 132 years of continuous publishing history, seeks an associate editor to join our team in a career path that has considerable potential for growth over the next three years.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Near-autonomous oversight of four digital publications, including BankNews.com, our flagship daily news site, two weekly newsletters and a quarterly digital journal. Daily news gathering, independent reporting and frequent posting are essential, as are digital-publishing skills through content-management systems like Quintype.
- Daily cross-posting on social media to promote our news items, increase on-platform engagement and drive traffic to BankNews.com and other NFR vehicles.
- Contributing to our print-publication processes by curating digital news to be digested in our flagship monthly print magazine, BankBeat, and by participating in planning and proofing meetings for the print publications.
Candidates should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or related field
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a reporter, freelance writer, content creator or other editorial specialist
- Proficiency with content-management systems and social media
- The versatility to write both short-form breaking news andlong-form profiles and analytical features
- Attention to detail, strong time-management skills and the ability to communicate clearly and candidly
About the position:
- Full-time, salaried
- Pay range of $41,000 to $51,000 per year

This role is based in Eden Prairie, Minn., and while we define it as “hybrid,” we value in-office collaboration, so the associate editor should plan to be in the office several days per week.
